The "how to's" are terrific. But, if you are into digital he spends a lot, too much, on film and equipment that is film based. But, his wisdom about photography is worth the price of the book alone.

Before photography was cheapened and destroyed by the digital menace, there were photographers who valued craft. This book probably contains more useful information than just about any other for the photographer interested in crafting a photograph. It's not just for the nature photographer--the information here is valuable to anyone in any genre. If it's out-of-date, it's because craftsmanship is out-of-date, along with quality, knowledge and honesty. If you value any of these virtues in photography, you will value this book.
