I really enjoyed this make-up-book a lot. I saw it advertised in a magazine, along with a couple of tips about make-up from the book, and thought I would enjoy it. I never purchased a make-up book before. This one is very enjoyable and worth the money.
I bought this book in an effort to simplify my make-up/ skin care routines. There are some helpful tips within the pages. The author, Jemma Kidd, categorizes skin types by coloring: porcelain/ fair/ light olive/ olive/ dark and offers advice on color palettes for each. JK also offers advice on treatment of common skin problems and conditions. The final chapters gives step by step advice on different "looks" from "office" to "wedding guest" to "red carpet" and beyond. The book was relatively helpful. However, I think my interests were more specific. This seems like a great gift for a make-up "junkie" or a teen trying to figure out their personal style. It's also a pretty object- a coffee table book- with nice photos and layout. This enhances its "gift" appeal. It is a quick read with more photos than text- something (like a Vogue magazine) to read once or flip through and then place on the shelf. Were I to do it again, I'd likely just take it out of the library. It arrived relatively quickly from overstock.com in perfect condition bearing no marks, tears, or blemishes. The price was right.
