As a gift
I bought this for my sister's birthday and she loves it. I'm thinking about buying one for myself. You have to be "in" to this type of comic book. Lots of gore for sure so it's not intended for children though I used to read it when I was 10-11 so it all depends on what you want your children reading. I found a lot of the dialog humorous, but not everyone has the same sense of humor. :)

This book is a collection of the seven previous comics plus added "Terribly bad artwork" or something named to that effect. Put simply, I love this book. It honest to god, changed my life and how I persieve things.I recommend this book to anyone who, wants a change in the kind of comic books you read, likes comedy that works on a brain-dead level and up to more maturity and insightful outlooks on the world around us that everyone needs to know. You are deprived as a human being if you do not read this book, if you don't get anything out of it other than a few laughs or it shifts your life for the better.This isan't just for the gothic types, you'll like it if you have the mental capacity to read and laugh and enjoy it even more if you can understand it...

JTHM is one of the best comics for dark humour available. It is complete with inside ramblings, murders, cute little Squee, and even sessions of torture while cleaning out his fridge. I adore this book!
