Brace yourself for a thrilling high-seas adventure and dare to set sail for the Isle of Fire."A great explosion rocked the crowded harbor. The ferocious blaze engulfed ship after ship expanding the circle of destruction in mere heartbeats. The fire rain had been unleashed."As Catís memory returns, he realizes that he has lived two very different lives. Now he must choose whether to return to the ways of his notorious father and join the evil Merchant, or defy the Merchant and risk his life to save his friends. The best-selling Isle of Swords adventure continues in Isle of Fire as ancient mariners rise from legend and cut an all-too-real swath of destruction across the Atlantic. • Isle of adventure!

With older protagonists and different struggles Isle of Fire doesn't quite have the door open to young teen readers like Isle of Swords. It maintains an almost dark feel at times as it delves into the pain Cat feels over his father's choices and the power thirsty Thorne's exploits. And yet even with this dreary background we are shown characters who against pressure and society endeavor to keep their word, struggle against anger and rage, and try to lead reform. With starkly evil antagonists, human and flawed heroes, and the wild and wolly background of the sea I believe mid teen readers will find a gem of a story.

  • Huzzah for pirates!

This book is EXCELLENT. Like its prequel, Isle of Swords, it is full of mystery and danger. Cliffhangers abound. The characters face underwater labyrinths, hurricanes, fire rain, and berserkers, to name a few of their challenges. The characters are unique, the plot takes several surprising twists, and the whole tale is woven together with extreme care. Please try this story; I don't think you will be disappointed! -whisper

  • Pirates abound!

Isle of Fire is an adventurous pirate fiction, the sequel to Isle of Swords. It displays many moral themes, with great plot precision. Declan Ross and his daughter, Anne have teamed up with Commodore Blake to hire his pirate friends to help hunt down the enemy pirates, including Bartholomew Thorne, who has escaped his prison. Cat is asked to join the Brethrenís quest against the dreaded Merchant, and accepts, and gives Anne the opportunity to join him on the sea. She is given permission by Declan, and they track the Merchant to the Isla Secreta, his hideout. Meanwhile, Thorne has sailed to the Raukar tribe, an ancient surviving Viking clan. He enlists their aid and their fiery cannons, which no one could have been prepared for. He sets their fleet out for an attack on England, which Declan has picked up a rumor about. Declan warns his friends and they set out to disrupt Thorneís plans.

  • Pirates Vs. Vikings

With most of the characters from Isle of Swords, you will be thrown back to the sea. Mr. Batson is the only author that I know who can put pirates and Vikings in one book. What's that? You have to read it to find out. Over all Wayne Tomas Batson did a great job making the sequel fit with the first book Isle of Swords. Yet so much different that you have no clue what will happen next! This book is so good, I have to say it is yet another great book by Mr. Batson.
