A must read
 from Montana,  Mar 4, 2008

If you are pregnant or may become pregnant you should without a doubt read this book. No other pregnancy book stands up to Ina May's guide to childbirth. This book will help you make an informed decision about the birth of your baby.

If you only read one, make it this one!
from Pasco, WA,  Jul 8, 2007

I am very familiar with birthing women, and have recommended this book to many. I have had great feedback! It is reassuring without being paternalistic, it is an easy read without being too basic, and it inspires women to have confidence in their bodies and their ability to give birth. Her information is based in evidence, and her recommendations are tremendously helpful. Ms. Gaskin has been involved in the birth community for many years, and her wisdom and experience shows in this wonderful book.

Review of Ina May's Guide to Childbirth
from St. Paul, MN,  Mar 24, 2007

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth is a wonderful book for anyone who is interested in natural childbirth. Ina May, one of the top midwives in the U.S., has compiled in the first half of this book stories of women who birthed naturally under her care at "the Farm," the independent community in which she herself lives in Tennessee. The second half of the book is packed with information and details regarding the birthing process itself, and how modern medicine's influence on childbirth has changed our country's approach to childbirth in the past 100 years. Ina May also includes issues pregnant women in the U.S. will find helpful in thinking through in choosing their care provider and how and where they want to birth their babies. This is definitely the most helpful book I have read thus far in my pregnancy. I found it to be both extremely informative as well as empowering.
