Nora Ephron is also the author of Wallflower at the Orgy. She received Academy Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay forWhen Harry Met Sally..., Silkwood, and Sleepless in Seattle, which she also directed. Her other credits include the filmMichael and the play Imaginary Friends. She lives in New York City with her husband, writer Nicholas Pileggi.
With her disarming, intimate, completely accessible voice, and dry sense of humor, Nora Ephron shares with us her ups and downs inI Feel Bad About My Neck, a candid, hilarious look at women who are getting older and dealing with the tribulations of maintenance, menopause, empty nests, and life itself.

The woman who brought us When Harry Met Sally . . . , Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail, and Bewitched, and the author of best sellers Heartburn, Scribble Scribble, andCrazy Salad, discusses everything—from how much she hates her purse to how much time she spends attempting to stop the clock: the hair dye, the treadmill, the lotions and creams that promise to slow the aging process but never do. Oh, and she can’t stand the way her neck looks. But her dermatologist tells her there’s no quick fix for that.

Ephron chronicles her life as an obsessed cook, passionate city dweller, and hapless parent. She recounts her anything-but-glamorous days as a White House intern during the JFK years (“I am probably the only young woman who ever worked in the Kennedy White House that the President did not make a pass at”) and shares how she fell in and out of love with Bill Clinton—from a distance, of course. But mostly she speaks frankly and uproariously about life as a woman of a certain age.

Utterly courageous, wickedly funny, and unexpectedly moving in its truth telling,I Feel Bad About My Neck is a book of wisdom, advice, and laugh-out-loud moments, a scrumptious, irresistible treat.

    • Loved this book!

I bought this book to read in my car, while waiting for my son to get out of school. Each day, I looked forward to laughing through another chapter, and was sad when the book ended. Before getting this, I did not know who Nora Ephron is. I never paid enough attention to movie credits to realize that she has written and directed some of my most favorite movies. This book is a gem. Nora Ephron is hilarious, and I loved reading about the personal stories of such an incredibly talented, accomplished and insightful human being.

    • i feel bad about my neck

As a woman in my 50's I could really relate to this book. The author brings up some things I've never really thought about but are part of my every day life. I don't usually laugh when I read but I found myself smiling at quite a few parts. It makes a great gift which is why I bought 4 on overstock.

    • I Feel Bad About My Neck

I took this book out of the library and loved it so much that I am buying it for all my female friends for their 50th birthdays. Nora Ephron writes as if she's talking to you in your living room -- very natural and unpretentious.

    • Disappointed

Very disappointed in this book. Was self serving and title is misleading. I didn't want to read about her life story!

    • Sooo funny

A nurse loaned me this book while I waiting to go into surgery. Hard to imagine, but I was laughing out loud and felt my anxiety level tremendously eased by the the author's sense of humor and writing style. I got through 3 chapters (and successful surgery). Later I purchased 2 copies for sharing with my friends and to finish the book myself. If you are a woman of about 50 or older, you will love this book.
