I have read this book as well as many of my friends from book club. We have all just loved it and raved about it to others. I am getting 2 for different family members who love to read. I can definitely see a movie in the making. Its almost as good as the "Twilight" series. There is violence in the book but would still feel it appropriate for young readers. There is some romance but it is kept to a minumum. There is some kissing. I can't wait for the sequel to come!

This was a great deal on a hardcover and with the other two books in the series, it was by far the best in comparison to this in paperback from a major retail store.

This book was a amazing! I'm an avid reader. I enjoy everything from the classics to historical non-fiction to fantasy and everything in between! While I love love love reading everything I can get my hands on, it's not often that I will sit down and read a book cover to cover in one sitting... but I did just that with this book! Can't wait to start the second!

I'm not sure if it's due to the holiday season or if books ordered off of Overstock take longer to ship, but this was my first time ordering a book from this site, and it took two weeks for it to finally arrive. This is the main reason I give it an average rating--other buyers could experience the same inconvenience. Otherwise, everything else was fine--new condition and great price.

You will not be able to put the book down. All three of the books in the series are "great".

The first thing I want to tell you is to not read any other reviews because they are filled with Spoilers that take away from a great book. The book is a very exciting and entertaining read that kept me interested a lot better than I thought before I started. The Hunger Games is about a powerful government that attempts to keep its population in line by having a brutal competition every year. It consists of teenagers and young children battling to the death. It does have some violent battle scenes with the competitors, it is the only thing that should keep younger children from reading the book, but it is fine for kids over 12 or 13. It also talks about how a powerful government, the power of media, and propaganda influence on people’s decisions. There are a couple silly romance scenes that I don’t think are needed, but they don't take away from the book that much. Overall, The Hunger Games is a fascinating book that stays in your mind all day, it has and interesting plot and cliffhanger ending that leaves me ready to check out the next two books in the series, and not being able to wait for the movie to come out in 2012.

This is a very good book. this is my second copy as I am giving it to a friend.

I'm not usually into fiction, but this book completely changed my mind! I'm about halfway through, and I try to steal any moment I can to keep reading. Great character development... I look forward to finishing this and moving through the next two in the series. They should make a movie from this book... it'd be a hit!

Never been a fan of Trilogies but these books are addicting could not put the book down cannot wait for the third to come out.

One of the best books I've ever read. Make sure to read the sequel "Catching Fire." Am anxiously awaiting the third book in the trilogy! Well worth at any price but enjoyed the value I got through Overstock.

In my opinion, this is the best new YA book of 2009. (And I read a ton of YA books.) It's fresh and suspenseful. The book synopsis does not do it justice. Even if you usually shy away from sci-fi, you will like this one. It has heart.
