This is a great book and after a lot of research, I found your price to be the lowest! My son is 20 years old and is going into his Junior year of college. He asked me to teach him how to cook this summer because he has not been eating very healthy food at school. This book teaches what you need to properly stock your kitchen, both cooking utensils and food, and makes the recipes easy to follow. I ordered a book for my 14 year old daughter too, but I'm going to keep that one! It's a good book for the beginning cook to the seasoned cook, there's always something to learn.
BOUGHT THIS BOOK FOR SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO COOK. THEY WERE THRILLED. IT COVERS ALL THE BASICS, AND IT IS EASY TO FOLLOW.
We got this for our nephew, who is living off campus now and will need to feed himself - no more meal plan. It seems a little advanced for the title but includes the basics. Since he's living on easymac (aren't they all?), the occasional cafeteria meal, fast food, and all the leftovers from home he can fit in a cooler it should point him in the right direction.
I love this book because it explains the basics. You can refer back to the "how to" sections even if you're a more advanced cook but never really got the hang of a certain technique or you forgot how to do something (such as how to de-bone a chicken). The recipes are varied, not boring; and they turn out well. I think it's a must have in any kitchen.
