Based on the eponymous underground magazine and original art and stories by Richard Corben, Angus McKie, Dan O'Bannon, Thomas Warkentin and Berni Wrightson, this groundbreaking cult classic introduced Americans to the psychedelic style of erotic science fiction known as Anime. This unique collection of six animated stories are all linked by sequences featuring a fiendish green meteorite that claims to be the cause of evil throughout the world. A combination of science-fiction, fantasy, horror, comedy, and sex against a pulse pounding heavy metal soundtrack with songs by Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Stevie Nicks, Nazareth and other 80's rock giants. The video contains a three-minute segment that wasn't included in the theatrical version of the film.

This movie is so good that I don't know where it should rank among one of the greatest movies ever made and animated at that. If you want to know how heroes are made, then watch this girl on her journey to become one of the greatest heroes ever. I'm very happy to finally have this movie on DVD. Now I can watch it for years without fear of the sound or visual aspects diminishing because of continual use like it would on tape. "The Wall" and "Heavy Metal" should be put in a time capsule for every century to come.
