The book has more information on Ayurvedic theory and a healthy diet than recipes. The recipes sound healthy and tasty, but often use spices and ingredients that are not available unless you have access to an Indian grocery.

I'm culinarily challenged and had been eating the same dishes over and over. Since I took up triathlon I was looking for a way to eat yummy healthy food and being a fan of the show I decided to try this book. I've only made a few of the recipes in here and they've all been fantastic and easy to make. One complaint is that most of the meals are grilled and I don't own a grill. It would be nice to be offered an alternative cooking method. I like that it's categorized by type of dish (main course, side, salad, etc) but type of meat would be good for the main courses. Overall this is the best cookbook I own and I use it several times a week. Highly recommended!

I was looking for a compilation of healthy recipes I could use for everyday meals. This is it! If your looking to revamp some of your famnily meals, I would recommend this book. I do agree with another reviewer that the mac & cheese was not that great but I don't care for squash that much. We did add chipotle hot sauce and it made it very mexican tasting and I ate it then but the taste as is...is a bit strange. Everything else I've tried my husband and I have loved. Especially the roated red pepper pasta. I used goat cheese instead of feta (what I had on hand in a snow storm) and wow! It was delicious. It made enough sauce to freeze some and reheat at a later point. I can't wait to make more of Ellie's recipes. I love her!

I found the book extremely helpful and informative. I have recommended it to my friends and family. It contains great tasting recipes that will not derail you from a healthy eating life style. The most important factor is that all the recipes use healthy products - no artificial ingredients go into any of their foods!

This is such a great go to cookbook. Lots of great weight loss tips too! I have other cookbooks from Marlene Koch and this is my favorite. We're all trying to eat healthy meals and lower the sugar and salt , this is perfect blend of both- without sacrificing taste!

I will give this as a gift on every possible occasion. This is the 'end-all' book on healthy eating. Lose the many pounds on the bookshelf and put this one book in their place. Common sense eating with the proper preparation techniques explained, accompanied by ancient wisdom and the facts to back it up. I even give it 5 stars for entertainment value as it is an enjoyable read that will leave you laughing (and crying) at the politics that govern our food choices.

If you or someone you cook for has Hemochromatosis, this cookbook is a must have. Not only does the cookbook have safe, easy to follow recipes that taste great, it has lots of information about iron absorption and information about how to pair foods to eat healthy with low iron intake. I really like the colorful pictures, too. I was thrilled to find this cookbook and even more thrilled when I purchased it and saw the quality.

A healthy diet and lifestyle includes more than diet and exercise. Understanding the benefits and uses of vitamins and supplements can help you decide which supplements are for you. The following information can help you find answers to many of the most frequently asked questions about dietary supplements.

Even if you maintain a healthy diet and weight and exercise regularly, you still might not feel as though you are getting the nutrients you need to enjoy and keep up with your lifestyle. Women have specific needs when it comes to vitamins, and those needs can change and increase during adolescence, pregnancy and menopause. Let us help you choose the best vitamins and supplements for your lifestyle. B vitamins. B vitamins are water-soluble, which means they are flushed out daily, so they need to be replenished frequently. B vitamins are abundant in a variety of foods, including meat, potatoes and bananas, but many women, particularly vegetarians, may not find themselves consuming a variety of B vitamin-rich foods. Water-soluble vitamins are also compromised when foods are over-processed or stale. B vitamins affect your immune system, metabolism and cell growth, and they have a big impact on your energy levels. Pregnant women should consume extra B vitamins, particularly vitamin B9, which is also known as folic acid. Find your B vitamins together in a B-complex supplement or in a quality multivitamin. Vitamin C. Vitamin C is also water-soluble, so it is important to get plenty each day. Vitamin C is famous for promoting a healthy immune system. In addition, vitamin C is necessary for absorbing iron into the blood. Because women are more likely to develop iron-deficiency anemia, vitamin C is especially important. Vitamin C supplements are available in a range of formulations, and you can also get plenty from food sources. In addition to oranges, vitamin C is abundant in oysters, broccoli and a wide variety of fruits. Vitamin D. Vitamin D contributes to the overall health of your body's organs, but its main job is to make sure that the calcium you work so hard to consume gets absorbed properly. Women are more likely to develop bone density complications, so calcium and vitamin D are extremely important for women of all ages. You can get your vitamin D easily from the sun, but if your lifestyle doesn't allow for much sun exposure, you may want to consider adding a vitamin D supplement to your routine. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means it is stored in the body's fat and organs. There is some potential for toxicity when fat-soluble vitamins are over-supplemented. A daily intake of 200 to 400 IU per day is recommended for children and adults, and most vitamin D supplements will provide 400 IU per dose. More than 400 IU per day is not recommended. You may have heard that living a healthy lifestyle includes taking dietary supplements to boost your body's well-being. Before you stock your medicine cabinet with an arsenal of pills and powders, it's important to know exactly what a dietary supplement is and what it is made of. In 1994, Congress passed the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, defining dietary supplements as products taken by mouth, containing ingredients intended to supplement the diet. What are those ingredients and how do they work? The following list of terms can help you understand what makes up the building blocks of the vitamins and supplements you take.
Getting healthy hair doesn't depend entirely on genes, hair products and styling routines. You can improve the quality of your hair by taking vitamins. With the right hair vitamin routine that includes supplements that are essential to hair nutrition, you can enhance hair growth. You may also experience an improvement in the look and texture of your hair. Thick, shiny locks can be easily within your reach with the perfect hair vitamins for healthy tresses. B vitamins. Most B vitamins are important for hair growth, including B3, B5, B6 and B12. Niacin, also known as B3, is essential for a healthy scalp with good circulation. Some foods rich in vitamin B3 include fish, chicken and turkey. B5, also known as pantothenic acid, may prevent grey hair and is found in egg yolks and whole grains. B6 and B12 are also found in grains and eggs and can prevent hair loss. B-complex vitamins can give you a quick dose of these hair-healthy vitamins, and vitamin-rich sport beverages are also commonly filled with B vitamins. Vitamin A. Vitamin A is an antioxidant that is widely known to improve hair texture and sheen. Vitamin A assists in producing sebum in the scalp, which leads to healthy oils throughout the hair. A vitamins are available in supplement form, and many foods are also rich in A vitamins, including spinach, broccoli, cheese, cabbage, peaches and apricots. Vitamin A also helps improve skin quality and texture, so use vitamin A as an all-over beauty regimen. Vitamin E. Vitamin E is essential to the overall appearance of hair. Vitamin E works wonders for the scalp, leading to more hair growth and oil production, which helps hair appear silky and soft. Vitamin E supplements are widely available, and many foods are also rich in vitamin E, such as soybeans, nuts, beans and dark-green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale and collard greens.
