First, if you are looking at this DVD, then you probably saw the first 2 in the series and know they have little semblance to the books. That aside, the series is good and I wish there were more. The shows are a mix of comedy and drama. The characters are fairly eccentric. As an American, I found the accents sometimes hard to understand and would have appreciated subtitles. Still, that will make watching more times, more enjoyable- I expect to get more out of each viewing. Slainte!

This Is A Very Good British Drama/Comedy and would Recommend It To Anyone That Enjoys British TV .

Series three is just as good as the first two. I am happy that dvd was finally released but sorry that this is the last in the series. Hamish MacBeth is great mystery viewing in a unique Scottish setting and the characters are fantastic. I will miss Hamish and the gang. If you enjoy light mysteries with some quarky characters this series is perfect for you. Exposure to the sreies has motivated me to read several of the Hamish MacBeth mysteries by M.C. Beaton, many of which are available in paperback. You can't lose - Series three is highly recommended, and this is far better viewing than watching all of the "reality" and game shows that the networks are hung up on now.
