The follow-up to SUITCASE: FAILED EXPERIMENTS & TRASHED AIRCRAFT, 2005`s SUITCASE 2 is another four-disc box set of Guided By Voices rarities and musical absurdities, in this case released after mastermind Robert Pollard buried the group at the end of the previous year. Appropriately, the collection serves as a sort of a postmortem on the revered indie-rock ensemble, with tracks dating back to its obscure 1980s beginnings. Humorously crediting each song to various fictional bands, AMERICAN SUPERDREAM WOW treats GBV fans to Milko Waif`s acoustic lament "Soggy Beavers," Timid Virus`s rocked-out "I Am Decided," and Modular Dance Units` abstract, lo-fi "Metro XVI." Like its predecessor, this compilation will primarily appeal to Pollard completists, but other open-minded listeners that stumble upon this SUITCASE will find plenty of enjoyable lo-fi wackiness inside.
