This two-fer CD from the English reissue label Beat Goes On combines Glen Campbell`s sixth and seventh albums for Capitol, Gentle on My Mind and By the Time I Get to Phoenix, released in 1967 and 1968, respectively. Both albums have been available in the U.S. individually and as two-fers, but tend to go in and out of print quickly. While the highlights of these albums remain the Grammy-winning title tracks, the choice of material includes pleasant interpretations of familiar songs of the era written by Paul Simon, Harry Nilsson, Roy Orbison, Donovan, and Rod McKuen. "Completists" will want to add these remastered albums to their collections, but the casual listener would be better off with a greatest-hits compilation. ~ Al Campbell
