Not finished reading it, but it takes an interesting view of the family's journey with no sugar for a year. The successes and failures. Good narrative, not text-book style writing.

I'm half way through this book. Sukey was my friend and sorority sister in college. It's a difficult book for me to read. However, it's beautifully written and funny like Sukey so far! I had no idea she was such an accomplished writer!

I tutor a middle school student and this was on his reading list for the summer. He chose this book because he's generally interested in computers but ironically, not an Apple fan. I, however, am an Apple fan- owning a MacBook Pro, iPod touch, and iPhone which I (admittedly) use much more than I should. It was a great take on his life and gave me so much insight into where the ideas came from. I learned a great deal of information about Steve Jobs and am looking forward to seeing my students reaction to this book.

  • A Must Have For Those Interested in the Romnovs

    Jun 26, 2014

    albertalioto  from San Francisco, Rating:4.0

The actual number of diary entries in the book is somewhat limited, but those of us who are interested in the Romanovs should consider ourselves fortunate to be able to read any of the Grand Duchesses' diaries. It is the best picture we are ever likely to get of Olga, who with her sisters, has been a largely anonymous character in the hiostory of the Russian Revolution. The light that Helen Azar was able to shine on her is to be appreciated.
