  • "Down Home" cookbook

The Taste of Home recipes are from real home cooks, not professionals (some of them might be). I was one of the original subscribers to the Taste of Home magazine when it was first introduced many years ago. The recipes in this book are easy to follow, ingredients are not complicated or difficult to find items, so cooking with recipes from this book is fun and stress free. I can see myself reaching for this book whenever I want to make something easy but delicious, and something that most people will enjoy eating.

  • Great Instructional Cookbook

I'm a self-taught cook and have never really familiarized myself with common techniques, but Mark Bittmann has made it incredibly easy with this latest in the "How to Cook Everything" series. I own three of the books and consider him a cooking god. Everyone who wants to make themselves simply, good food and not order out every meal should buy this. Would be a great graduation, wedding, birthday, holiday, any-occasion gift to cooks of any level.

I bought six copies of this book for myself and for Christmas gifts. First of all, there is a soup recipe for each day of the year, delightfully arranged by months. Everyone first looked at the recipe for their birthday and for their family's. Recipes in each of the seasons focus on fresh ingredients from that particular time of the year. The other thing I love about the book is the index. There are two; Soups by Ingredients in which all the soups that contain asparagus, chicken, quinoa, shrimp, beets, kale, etc, for example, are listed together. The other listing is Soups by Type. Here soups that are vegetarian, fruit based, chilled, pureed, chowders, etc. are listed together, making it a joy to find just what you're looking for. The book is printed on heavy paper and is made to sustain many years of use. The soups are very creative and unusual. I cannot recommend this cookbook from Williams Sonoma highly enough. Now that the holidays are over and winter is upon us I'm look...

The Ina Garten cook book came quickly and in the conditioned promised. Ina has the best recipes. They are good, on the easy side and made with good ingredients. No matter what Ina cook book you get, you will be guaranteed a good product. I highly recommend this product.
