The author of " From Lance to Landis" is a journalist with a very decided "point of view" about U.S. Cycling & Professional Cyclists, especially Lance Armstrong & Doping. He used his journalistic skills to find information that explains his point of view. I found this book "biased, NOT balanced". Journalist are supposed to be just the opposite of what I found this book to be! If there is "so much" Doping going on in U.S. Amateur & Professional Cycling----why isn't there a journalistic spotlight being shone on all aspects of it & USADA [executive, legislative, & judicial]? Why hasn't the US Olympic Committee & the Professional Cycling Organization banned U.S. cyclists & Cycling Teams from participating in any further competitions until their whole system has proved itself "free of doping", from bottom to top; & having a fair & secure system in place to be able to catch any future doping. The author doesn't look at the possibility that the AntiDoping Testing Laboratory made mistakes; what is their statistical accuracy? The author doesn't look at the mistakes made by WADA &/or USADA; what is their statistical accuracy? The author mentions some of the biases & politics of different Officials/Directors involved in the Tour de France, the International ProCycling organization & the AntiDoping community; but he doesn't mention what "checks & balances" are available or lacking to counterbalance those biasa & politics? The author doesn't look into the consistency & accuracy of the workers who performed the "positivel" Tests; or the statistical accuracy of the results on samples that were several years old? These things weren't part of the author's "point of view", but answering them would've made for a more "balanced" point of view.. Did Lance Armstrong dope to achieve his 1st TdF victory in 1999? Possibly. Did Lance dope to achieve the following his victories for the following 6 years [2000-2005]? There hasn't been any of those doping tests proved "positive", imagine that. That's a tremendous fete, 6 consecutive TdF victories, for anyone to achieve. The Title's mention of "Landis" isn't given fair coverage in the book. The author uses the one short chapter he gives to Landis, to imply that U.S Cycling's doping problems didn't end with Armstrong's retirement in 2005. He doesn't really give any "new" information about Landis then what was given out in the media in August 2006 after the the 2006 Tour de France. Despite the author's biased point of view, HE DOES GIVE MANY DETAILS that I didn't know before ABOUT U.S. CYCLING, especially LANCE ARMSTRONG.
