Out of the series of Sookie books, this one seemed like it had too many story lines (plots) going on in too little time. In other books, there's always been one main plot, which kept me intrigued-- this one just seemed as the writer tried to solve or reveal too many "supes" and secrets too fast.
I was going to purchase this book from another online retail seller - not only was it more expensive, the shipping was higher and they told me I would have to wait for the book for about 4-5 weeks. That is much too long for a confirmed Sookie addict! Regarding the content of this book, there are some interesting plot twists and some continuity errors but it makes for an interesting read. It is packed with detail, so this not the usual lightening fast read that some of the Stackhouse series books can be. The overall tone of the book is less light-hearted than some of the earier books were. Sookie is growing up. Also, do not be fooled or put off by the cover art. I will not say more because I don't like 'spoilers'.

Starred ReviewHarris outdoes herself in this pivotal eighth Sookie Stackhouse novel (after 2007's All Together Dead), packing the story full of romantic tension and supernatural action. Having barely survived a catastrophic vampire hotel explosion, Sookie's back at work in Bon Temps, La., serving vintage blood and waiting tables at Merlotte's, a vampire bar. Participating in a friend's wedding and fending off the advances of her vampire ex-lover, Bill, and her blood-bonded pal, Eric, leaves Sookie chafing over the recent lack of communication from Quinn, her weretiger boyfriend. When a violent Were power struggle erupts as Vegas vampires attempt to take over Louisiana from disgraced queen Sophie-Anne, Sookie dives into the middle of it, determined to help her shape-changing, blood-drinking friends. Harris provides many fun twists, most significantly Sookie's meeting with her fae great-grandfather, Niall Brigant, which paves the way for a shock ending that will delight longtime fans.
