Frankly, I found this movie to be overly built up in its sensuality and somewhat lacking in the eroticism that its jacket cover trumpets as its hallmark. Jarman's direction in this movie fails to engage to viewer either to a higher understanding of St. Sebastian's sense of morality in the face of decadence or the purposefulness of his mission as a priest. All we see are the temptations around him and the seductive efforts to thwart the inner angels of his soul. Jarman really doesn't respect his subject matter in this movie. It comes off as an explotation of one man's innocence without rationality. If Jarman has a moral to the story, it doesn't translate. The components of the movie are strong. Excellent settings, good photography, and sense of place are in the film. Casting could have been better with more attention to detail of character personalities and the script had unfulfilled promise. Jarman just doesn't put it together to pull the audience into the inner conflicts of the charac...

Factual Film This will update minds about war and prisoners treatment World War 2 by Germany. This is very intense on scenes. War is a Dirty Business. Consider 9/11 and Pearl Harbor attacks. Personal, I have seen this 1969 in US Army Basic Training. I observed expectations during War in Viet Nam. I was prepared for that fight. After these past years, I was looking to review as US is back at war. This is an enlightening film. True is a Fact. Hard to believe. Only different is French Verbal language. Subtitles are in English.. BUT it is a distraction to watch the film and subtitles. It is worth it to watch a second time. REVIEW!!!

You have just stumbled upon my favorite movie of all time, Fedrico Fellini's "8 1/2". What is "8 1/2" and what makes it so wonderful? It is a fictitious (at time) semi-autobiographical work about a top film director when he approaches a moment in life when he feels that all of his talents and inspirations have washed up. This could also be said of the main character's personal life as well, seeing as he unsuccessfully attempts to balance a dry romantic relationship with both his mistress and his wife. The film is seen very much from the director, Guido's, point of view, even to the point of allowing the audience to go along with him to various points in his childhood where we find some of the most compelling parts of the story. But not all ventures into this man's mind are that of retrospect. Being a film director, he sees thing in a very different way than most and often times retreats into his own imagination to find a false sense of refuge from nagging producers, writers and actors ...
