  Great book. It's comprehensive and yet simple and easy to follow. It's not a vocabulary builder or conversation book. Use this as your first German book.

  It's fun with the computer flash cards. However, don't expect this to be a comprehensive learning book. Good to get some vocabulary under your belt. Don't expect to learn grammars.

  It was put together really well, but I did not have the dicipline to stay at it. I feel that if you were serious about learning basic german, you would know quite a bit by using this book.

  I heard a marvelous review of this book on NPR radio by a woman who was reluctant to read it based on her husband's recommendation. She finally got around to reading it and loved it - thought it was one of the funniest books she had ever read. The story was written over 100 years ago and the humor is dry, British and hysterical! This soft cover book looks like a comic book inside, but don't let that fool you; the pictures only inhance the dialogue. Give this book to anyone who loves a funny well-told story.
