      Very simply stated rules. Many are reminders we already know, but do not practice. The book is brief and some parts I found humorous. Following at least the majority of the rules will help a person really make a life-style change without counting calories, fat grams, carb grams, fiber, etc. For additional movitation to eat healthier he has written other books.

      There's no good reason not to read this one. It's short and extremely quick to read. It sums up ways to make better eating choices without bogging you down with too much data. This isn't a magic diet book or other garbage that you see on book shelves these days. If you want more detail though you should read Pollan's 'In Defense of Food.' This is also a good read and is very similar to 'Food Rules' but has more information. You'll think a little more about what you're eating after this book.

      I have always enjoyed Michael Pollan's work, and Food Rules provides succinct, informative, and realistic advice on what to put (or not put) into your body. I had been hoping he'd write a guide like this, and he did! It's short, sweet, and gets right down to the important points.
