FIREPROOF, from the same team that made the 2006 hit FACING THE GIANTS, is a Christian relationship drama with a very strong message. The film stars Kirk Cameron of the classic television series GROWING PAINS as Captain Caleb Holt, a fireman whose fearlessness is limited to his work. At home with his wife of seven years, Caleb shows little of the bravery he displays on the job, and has a failing marriage as a result. Fighting over every little thing, Caleb and his wife, Catherine (Erin Bethea), are on the verge of signing divorce papers when Caleb`s father and coworkers urge him to approach his marriage in the same way he fights vicious flames. When Caleb`s father gives him the "Love Dare," a 40-day guide to religiously motivated marriage help, Caleb begins a difficult journey to reclaim his wife, and in the process, his faith in God.
With several action-packed scenes, FIREPROOF uses fire metaphors in its exploration of marriage. The film offers an alternative to the common romantic comedy and, some might argue, a more multidimensional view of romance. The film examines both the ups and inevitable downs of married life, offering faith as a prescription for saving what may at first glance appear to have already failed. Likely to please its target audience, the film offers a fresh perspective on marriage and inspiring relationship tips viewers may want to try regardless of their faith.
Customer Reviews
I just watched the Fireproof dvd and thought it was very moving. My husband and I are currently separated and I am purchasing a copy to leave with him. I have read reviews from other sites about the quality of the movie (which I thought was fine) but that is not the focus on this movie. I recommend this for ALL couples as we ALL need Jesus in our lives; regardless if we are married or not. Thank you for creating such an encouraging and uplifting movie.
Fireproof came out on our 10th anniversary and was just what we needed. We were just at a point were we were becoming what I call associates in a marriage. I planned for us to see the movie at 1:00pm we left work and I would not tell him where we were going, I knew it was meant for us to see the movie because I got out of work later then I wanted to but we didn't hit any traffic or lights and got to the theater on time. Let me tell you I don't think my husbands eyes were dry during the entire movie and at times i sobbed like a baby. My husband could not stop telling me how sorry he was, and our marriage hasn't been the same, I think this movie should be played at churches and marriage counselors should use is as a tool.
If your marriage is in trouble or if you want a blessing in your marriage this is the movie for you.
most amazing, and true to life story i have ever seen, osame
I feel this movie should be mandatory to watch BEFORE couples are granted a marriage license! Excellent textbook to guide couples to a successful relationship. Kurt Cameron is so believable. Not your usual glitz, glamor, and garbage - suitable for all ages. Highest recommendation possible!
