Those first two reviews may have been valid during the first three months of the game, but the game's developers have really worked hard to deliver updates that have made it much more enjoyable to play. They have even extended the free play option indefinitely so there is currently no monthly dues. I play it, and would feel comfortable suggesting it to anyone.

You don't need me to tell you this, you can wiki the game, go to Metacritic, etc and find this out. What I can tell you is that this game is as bad as everyone says it is. I don't think I can buy another FF title without scrutinizing it for several weeks after release to make sure I wasn't dupe into blowing money on crap. This game MIGHT be worthwhile by PS3 release in March, but it isn't anywhere close to being where it should be right now.
I purchased Final Fantasy 14. Their create an account format is a nightmare. Their directions leave you wanting to scream. Their log in procedure has you screaming by the end of a long and drawn out process. Looking for help is a nightmare. Final Fantasy forums everywhere are clear as mud and almost undecipherable. There is very little help out there....even on google or yahoo. No I am not an employee of another game. I am simply a totally unhappy Final Fantasy customer. I cannot evaluate the actual game as I was never able to play it!! Several years ago I tried enrolling for a final fantasy 11 subscription and was screaming at my computer by the end of the process back then as well. Save yourself the headache. Try Wow, Lotro, Everquest2 or a myraid of other online games that actually make logging in a decent step by step process rather then a Indiana Jones puzzle to solve in order to play a simple online game.
