One liners and zingers. It makes for a great read or conversation starter, at the least gives you the last word.

  • Impressive in its complexity

My spouse is a big Philip K Dick fan, and he was shocked to see this under the christmas tree. He is a little overwhelmed by the complexity (and small print), but says it's a good book for dipping into and enjoying in doses, not the kind of book you read cover to cover at a single sitting. Fascinating to look at and imagine how this author's mind operated.

  • Insight into Hemingway the Human Being

    Nov 8, 2011

    yostwl  from Maryland, Rating:5.0

This is the first volume of the letters of EH, from his childhood to the early 1920s. EH is so surround by myth and pop-psychology, often sophomoric, analysis, that it can be difficult to see him as a human being and understand what molded one of the greatest writers of the 20th Century. These letters provide wonderful insights into Hemingway's development, family, and environmental influences from around age 7 to his early manhood.

  • Permanent Bedside Book

This book is a must have for the fans of the Mitford series. I love how the book is compiled with all of my favorite scenes and characters right at my fingertips. This book is a permanent fixture on my nightstand and I would recommend it as a gift to the friend who is also fond of the Mitfordians.

I bought this book because I wanted to read A Christmas Carol. I loved the story so much! Nothing better to put you in a Christmas mood! I just finished reading The Chimes and I'm now reading The Cricket on the Hearth. Great book, good illustrations.
