  • Beautifully Illustrated but not an actual pop-up

Cicely Mary Barker creates beautiful images on every page but as far as this being an actual pop-up I was disappointed. I had purchased her other book-"How to Find Flower Fairies" which had pop-ups (3 dimensional ones!) on almost every page! This book just has several that are awe inspiring. I just got spoiled with the first one I bought of hers and just assumed that every one of her books would be it's equal. They are not created equal but nonetheless, they are both beautifully drawn and painted. I haven't read this one yet as my granddaughter hasn't received it yet for her birthday coming up in the first week in March 2014. The only reason that I know how it compares with the other one is that I just couldn't wait! I'm still a kid at heart-that's why I look at them and love them as she does. I know that she will love the colors and artistry which is not matched in any other books that I have seen on fairies! The pop-ups are great-I was just expecting there to be as many as t...

  • Now this is what I call a Pop-up Book!!!!

When my granddaughter first opened this book I wish that I had my camera handy! She was so happy with it as was and still am! The pop-ups are simply amazingly beautiful! There really is no other way to describe it. There are pop-ups on almost every page. They are very intricately drawn and painted. My granddaughter loved having to look for the fairies under leaves and through knotholes. It was like a fantasy coming to life on every page with them popping-up to life right there in front of her. She and I just love this book-just gorgeous!

  • Pop-up, not so much!

I guess I got spoiled by Cicely Mary Barker's "How to Find Flower Fairies" as far as a pop-up book goes. This book "Flower Fairies: Magical Secret Garden" states on the cover that it is a pop-up book. It only has a couple of pop-ups and they are nothing like the ones in the "How to find Flower Fairies"-every time you open up a page there is another beautiful full pages pop-ups! They are gorgeous. I just assumed that because this stated "Flower Fairies" in the title that it would at least be similar. It is not at all! The pop-ups, like I said very few of them were very disappointing! I got this one and another one which also is not what I would call a pop-up book. The original book I purchased by Cicely Mary Barker was a dream book, and what I have always known a pop-up book to be, not this book by any means! I just hope that my granddaughter will still like it for its story because the pop-ups just aren't there! I even called to ask about this and the customer service could ...

I loved the illustrations in this edition and the reflected style of the Hellenic pottery that fills museums all over the world. The story line is not changeable, but the illustrations are beautiful.
