      I lost my 2 best friends in June on the same day- I got this book about a month ago to help me find some reasons why this happened- I have read this book in the last month 3 times!!!- It has helped me so much try to understand their deaths. This is a book that you should keep handy at all times for reference in the event you need reminding!!

    • Everythinh happens for a reason

      This book is a great read and Oh so TRUE!! My sister was visiting and she is have problems dealing with some issues in her life. I told her to read a certain chapter in this book because it sounded just like her. She did and sure enough she says I have got to get this book. It is right on about me! A must read I think for all!

      Throughout my life, I have always felt everything happens for a reason. After reading this book, I am now convinced. This was an outstanding and wonderful book to read. For anyone who has ever had questions about situations or problems in your life, reading this book will definitely shed much light on the subject. I enjoyed reading it so much, I may read it again. Also, the author is excellent.

      The book was given as a gift for someone going through a confusing time in their lives, wondering why he/she kept choosing the wrong person in his/her life. Having read a similar book, I knew this one would help just as well.

    • Very interesting

      Its ok. I am only halfway through and you can probably figure out the meaning of why things happen by yourself. There were a few good points, but nothing that was extraordinary. Maybe it will get better. I would of finished the book sooner but it does not keep your interest. But I do intend to finish it.

    • Sheds a different perspective on life's events

      If I could've rated this book 3 1/2 stars instead of 4 I would've. I was very excited to start reading the book but since I'm nearing the end my excitment kind of slowed down and it's taking me longer than expected to finish the book. I am still happy that I purchased the book, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't say it's exactly what I expected. It's definitely an interesing book and definitely forces its readers to shed a different perspective on the events that happen in their lives (providing the reader keeps an open mind), which is a good thing in my opinion. I still have a little less than a quarter of the book to read before I've finished it but I think my disappoinment lies in the fact that I'm not satisfied with the answers the book has given me for certain events happening in my life.

  • If you believe that "everything happens for a reason," you might find solace in this well-written self-help guide by psychotherapist Kirshenbaum (best known for the relationship guide Too Good to Leave, Too Bad to Stay). Her premise is that "that no matter what happens to you, not only does something valuable come out of it but it's just what you need." Kirshenbaum details in separate chapters the 10 possible life lessons one might learn from unhappy life events, ranging from self-acceptance, feeling at home in the world and letting go of fear to finding true love or your hidden talents. Readers answer diagnostic questions to determine which lesson might be theirs. There is also a wealth of advice, such as a seven-step method to overcome fear and a list of the 10 elements of true love. Kirshenbaum is careful to note that what you learn doesn't make up for what you have lost. Still, the case studies always end positively. And some don't ring true: how likely is it that a mother will see the birth of a very sick infant as an opportunity to let go of fear? If you don't believe there is comfort to be found in life's worst events, this book isn't for you.
