The book was very interesting; I was amazed that Americans could lead such lifestyles. The book was informative, a total eye-opener. I was left with a few questions that remained unanswered, and like several other reviewers, I'm very curious to know what has happened to Carolyn and her family since the publication of her book. I would read the follow-up!

This is a great book. I found it very inspirational and informative. The book explains much of what goes on in the FLDS society, it is very relavent to what is happening right now in the Texas compound, many of the same people are involved. Excellent book!

I had a hard time getting through the book because I was distracted by the poor writing style. I believe it should be re-edited and that the non-Carolyn characters were flat and 2-D. When good things happened or "the bad guys" did things that didn't make them appear to be demons, they were glossed over and minimized, making it a shallow depiction of her life and experiences. I don't doubt that it was a horrendous experience, but it was repetitive and seemed to be written by a teenage girl. Important details were left out and other information was repeated and dwelled on. I had a hard time focusing on the story because I was frequently irritated by the phrasing and repetition.

I read this book on a long road trip and was totally immersed. It is eye-opening but inspiring. Carolyn tells a tale that is stranger than fiction but gripping and unfortunately, true.
Worth reading. What an inspiration!

This is a very good book. It takes the reader into a culture that is not very easy to penetrate these days. It is amazing that all she got all of her children out of this terrible cult. The information that she details about her family life is very detailed and enjoyable and engrossing. I am wondering as the book ends why she and Brian are not married and why she would continue to date someone for years and years. I would hope that Carolyn would write another book about polgamy. A page turner. It kept me up many nights when I should have been sleeping.
