Great but not fabulous
As someone who is a fan of the Harry Potter series, it is impossible not to compare the two series when listening. The writing is excellent but doesn't have the polish of Rowling's writing. In some places the plot and characters are too predictable. However, my husband and I, both in our thirties, are still very intrigued and would recommend the book/CDs to anyone who likes fantasy. Also, the reader of the CDs just isn't as good as the reader of the Harry Potter CDs. Jim Dale, who reads the Harry Potter books for the CDs, is the best we've ever heard. Gerard Doyle, who reads the Eragon CDs, does do a good job but, again, it's just not as good. On the other hand, it's a good enough job that we are willing to pay for the CDs in order to listen to them! So, in summary, the book is a 4 star book and the reader is a 4 star reader!

Kid Tested: Parent Approved
One of the best books on cd (and absolute worst films) we have come across. My children and I have a pretty long commute to and from school and we pass the time with fantasy books on cd. We have listened to the Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, and Eragon/Eldest (soon to be Brisngr Trilogy), as well as Lord of the Rings, and The Darks is Rising series several times. I have to say that the Eragon series is one of our personal favorites. It is very well written (by a 14 year old I believe!) action packed and full of magic ,mystery, and mayhem; I mean what more could a child or fun loving adult ask for. This series definitely gets two thumbs up from our family!! We are always suggesting others read this series and loaning out our cds and books.

The price it right!! You can not find this unabridged audio CD any where else for this price. The shipping was also quick. I am still waiting for the arrival of another order from "another source" and it has been almost a month. I would recommend this product to a friend and the story of Eragon is wonderful. It is one of our families favorite.
