In 2006, Rhino Records released the two-disc anthology BRIGHTER LATER, which contained a disc of hits by the adult alternative pop star Duncan Sheik, coupled with a second disc of Sheik`s darker, moodier material. The following year, the label spun off the first disc, unaltered, as a stand-alone budget-line collection of the singer-songwriter`s most popular songs. As a result, those who bought BRIGHTER LATER won`t need BRIGHTER, but it`s an ideal release for the casual fan with fond memories of 1990s radio hits like "Barely Breathing" and "She Runs Away." Sheik also covers a favorite song by one of his most obvious influences, Joni Mitchell`s "Court and Spark."
