David Tennent returns for another successful stint as the title character of DOCTOR WHO in this third series of the BBC`s thoroughly modern updating of the classic sci-fi character. Sadly, the Doctor`s former assistant Rose (Billie Piper) doesn`t return, but he is joined by a new accomplice, Martha (Freema Agyeman), for this run of episodes. Among the highlights in the 13 installments featured here (one of which is the acclaimed Christmas special, "The Runaway Bride") are the return of the Doctor`s arch nemesis, the Daleks; a trip to the moon; a journey aboard a space craft heading towards the sun; and a jaunt back to Elizabethan London. Each show contains the usual heady mix of wit and fear, and the series builds to a tense climax as another formidable foe from the Doctor`s past, the Master, makes an appearance.

The reborn Doctor Who continues to be a wonderful show into its third year. The episodes themselves are very good and the box set offers some great extras, including the commentary tracks, Doctor Who Confidential and special first-person tours/diaries by David Tennant and Freema Agyeman. Overstock had the best price I found for the set.

I fell in love with the British series Doctor Who in the late 1970's. My friends and I watched the episodes featuring the fourth Doctor Who, Tom Baker who was all teeth and curls and we wished we could be his "companions" as he traveled through time and space, righting wrongs and looking ever so cool in his overlong, striped scarf. I've since seen many episodes featuring many of the other Doctors, both old and new and each actor brought his own take on the Doctor's personality. When I heard that the TV show had ceased production, I mourned its passing. So I was thrilled to hear that new episodes of Doctor Who were being made. I, who had never owned a DVD before, now own the complete set of Doctor Who DVDS for Series One, Two and Three and I'm happy to report that my husband and kids are as hooked on the show as I am! Doctor Who has a little something for everyone: stories of courage, romance, adventure that always examine the what ifs" of life at the same time. Great TV!

I'd seen all of the episodes of Season three before I bought the DVD, but the DVD is whole other experience! "David Tennant's Video Diary" is a deffinite highlight! The commentaries, behind-the-scene looks and other special features are delightful. Besides this show being fun and engaging, it is funny, scary, and strangely cathartic. It is surely a credit to the men and women who have worked so tirelessly to bring this treasure of television history back to out screens as well as those who orginally created the show. (Be sure to listen carefully during "Human Nature") Although this is show is aimed at a family audience, parents with small children may want to review the show before letting their children watch it as there are some very scary situations and characters. (The weeping angels are particularily scary.) All in all, I found this to be a delightful purchase, and my shopping experiences with overstock.com have always been positive.
