I accidentally stumble onto this title while browsing the fantasy section in a little hole in the wall book store. Because of the title I hadn't stopped to check it out. Luckily the covers photo caught my eye and I began to read. Then I spent the next hour sitting on the floor reading it. After begging to borrow money the book was mine. I finished that night. This book has an amazing lead character, she is so strong, funny, sassy, and some one I would love to meet. Every time a character was introduced I loved them. From the crazy roommates, a vampire and a pixy family. Even the evil villains are too cool. Watching how all of the characters interact is a treat in itself, I'd read it just for the chemistry. I've read every book in this series up to date and I can only say that the back story for each character is amazing. The plot in this book is tons of fun, while still be gritty and action packed. Each book is amazing fun and so well thought out that they each connect no matter what the mystery of the book is that time around. In fact I would suggest reading them in order because they're more rewarding that way. The mystery stretches through to each book, you will remember it and it doesn't become confusing. Wondering what Harrison is going to next is part of the fun while you wait for the next book to come out.For action fans of urban fantasy, all of the other books up to The Outlaw Demon Wails are fairly clean. So you don't have to worry about the series turning into romance. These books are fun, with awesome mysteries, and ?evil? villains you LOVE to hate, well fleshed out characters. These are fun and you can't miss them. If you splurge on any books this year Dead Witch Walking is a book, and series, you can not miss.
Kim Harrison kept me hooked on the story. Rachel is such a spitfire and such a character you can't wait to see what she gets into next or how she gets out of situations. But all of Kim's characters are very interesting. I liked it so much I've already ordered 5 books in the series. I can't wait to get started on the next one as soon as I finish one. Each one keeps getting better and more interesting than the first. Once you read the first one you've got to keep reading cause you get so wrapped up in the characters lives and you've just got to know what's going to happen next. Can't wait.
