This made-for-Showtime series introduces a misanthropic female college dropout, Georgia George Lass (Ellen Muth), whose already mundane life becomes even more annoying when she dies. Instead of putting her out of her misery, Rube (Mandy Patinkin) forces George to perform the duties of a grim reaper while maintaining an otherwise ordinary existence. Unfortunately, this means working at the same temp agency that employed her before her accident. I can't recall how I came across this show on a cable channel, but taped a few episodes to see what it was about and I instantly loved it! Dead Like Me is described as a "dark gritty comedy" and it is. I'm surprised at the amount of cursing in the first season, seems the second season isn't as bad. Due to the language, I do not recommend for young teens or children. Appears there are only two seasons with a movie issued this year. It makes one wonder - just who among us are the "undead" .......?

This is/was a great show....the stories are sometimes compelling and most of the time make you laugh till you cry. George has such a dry humor; and appears to find nothing funny - although dead, she learns a great deal about human life while acting as a reaper. I love Jasmine Guy and her character - she is still aloof and distant - but quite loveable underneath. I was so sorry to see this show not renewed; it is definitely not for kids - too heavy at times; my husband and I loved the black comedy and humor on every show. This is a great buy and a treat to watch.

I first saw this show on TV and we missed some episodes so decided to buy it. We love the show. Lots of humor but some parts really make you think. The special effects are great, especially when you consider it's for a TV show plus it's a couple years old. Only thing I'd note-- for those who saw it on TV, remember that they block out cuss words. When you buy it, expect to hear lots of cussing, including the F-word.
