The first studio album since the death of saxophonist LeRoi Moore, BIG WHISKEY AND THE GROOGRUX KING finds the Dave Matthews Band none the worse for wear and collaborating with superstar producer Rob Cavallo (best known for his extensive work with Green Day). Cavallo`s way with an aggressive riff is in evidence on "Shake Me Like a Monkey," a funky track vaguely reminiscent of Peter Gabriel`s "Sledgehammer," and the driving "Why I Am," which recalls the Knack`s "My Sharona." Other songs, such as the groovy, polyrhythmic "Spaceman," find the band returning to classic jammy, chops-a-riffic DMB territory. Full of prominent hooks and snap-tight ensemble playing, BIG WHISKEY gave DMB fans another reason to rejoice.

I have been a Dave Matthews fan for over 17 years, not not since the days of "Under the Table and Dreaming, and "Crash" has the band influenced my daily music so intensely. I literally can't listen to this album enough.I have nearly 20 GB of music in my library and my collection is a magical one. If your into great jams, and groovy tunes, from under ground euro tech, to phish and widespread panic, I have the resources to entertain your ears and make you day soothing. But since the release of Big Whiskey, I'd say I could play only this album and no matter what your passion in style is with music, this album is sure to consume you. And if not, your probably having problems reading due to your complete lack of music comprehension, which bounces your reading from the melodies of my verbs... lol...I say buy it. I downloaded it, and then bought it anyway. I wanted the extras that come with it. The DVD, the picture book, etc... The beatles never topped the White Album. This is DMB's white album so far, so get involved.
