ITEM#: 12372557The quintessentially English mystery series DALZIEL & PASCOE initially debuted on the BBC in 1996, and ran for eleven years, finally wrapping in 2007. Over the course of its run, it culled a loyal following of viewers, and sustained an enduring critical reputation for excellence. The program starred Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan, respectively, as Detective Superintendent Andy Dalziel and Detective Inspector Peter Pascoe. As the series opens, novice Pascoe joins veteran Dalziel's team at the Mid-Yorkshire CID. The two men employ radically different methods in solving cases, and at first clash repeatedly. Yet in time, a level of mutual respect develops between them. This release features all three episodes of series 1: "A Clubbable Woman" (scripted by Alan Plater, "An Advancement of Learning" (scripted by Alan Plater, with special guest star Prunella Scales), and "An Autumn Shroud" (scripted by Malcolm Bradbury, with special guest star Francesca Annis).
