Kai Bird has written with empathy and insight , in a fine, scholarly but easy readable language. I wished more historians would write like well informed journalists. Kai bird is a scholar, historian as well as an excellent journalist and provides insights into todays Middle East. He reaches back into history and gives us a taste of today in this very informational book written with love for humankind and the world. What a treasure! I bought several copies now that it is out in paperback so I can give them away as presents. I highly recommend thois book.
