Coraline = Awesomeness

Coraline was an excellent movie! The animation was amazing -- similar to The Nightmare Before Christmas, but even higher quality. Coraline was a majorly creepy film (actually creepier than The Nightmare Before Christmas!) I imagine most older children could tolerate the scariness, but I wouldn't be taking the young kids to see this movie. This fantasy-filled film had funny, scary, and even profound moments. However, most importantly, the film told a good story. As an adult, I can sincerely say that the storyline kept me intrigued throughout the entirety of the movie. I genuinely cared about the final outcome of the characters. I'll leave my character commentary at this: most are not quite who they seem to be. Oh, and you will never look at dolls with button eyes QUITE the same way after watching Coraline. ; )

A thinking movie for children!

Coraline is an amazing movie for kids, ages 8+. Between ages eight and ten I would watch with parents, though, as the child may have some questions afterward. It is DEFINITELY good though. It's all about being careful what you wish for and follows Coraline as she gets the world she wished for, only to find out it's not as good as it seems. There is minor nudity, but it is an old woman recreating the fine art piece 'the birth of venus' so it shouldn't be too bad.
