my step daughter is 12 and loves RR. This is a perfect first cookbook for any age. The recipes are easy to read and follow. You have everything from breakfast to snacks. It is just like having RR in your kitchen.Have already made several of the recipes. She has even made a few by herself.

She loved it. I read through the book, and in the beginning, it has "kitchen essentials" so I purchased a few of the wooden spoons, and painted the handles like it suggested, and she feels like a chef! She tells me whenever she makes something out of the book! Really great recipes, and really easy to follow!

This is a well done book as far as recipes. It is spiral bound on heavy paper that won't get bent pages. The downside is that it's suppose to be a book for kids and there are no nice glossy photos of the end product. I bought the book as a gift for my 14 year old grandaughter that loves to bake cupcakes and cakes. She made the statement "I like to see what the food looks like, before I try to make the recipe". There are very few dessert recipes and nothing for cakes and cupcakes. There is a recipe for Ria's Double -Chips Cookies with Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chips. This book is filled with pages of photos and cartoons of Rachel Ray. We already know what Rachael Ray looks like. Let's focus on and see the recipe. Some pages are half blank; rather than using the blank portion for a glossy color photo of the completed recipe. Even a photo of Rachael Ray with the finished recipe would have been a nice touch. It's important to see what the recipe should look like when finished. How will the child know if they made a mistake? Also the recipes are not organized by course. Italian Flag Sundaes (dessert) is in between Mediterranean Chicken and Pasta Toss and Fish in a Sack. This book was a big dissapointment. I would not recommend it for kids.

The recipes did not appeal to any of the children. They love to "cook", but failed to find anything in this cookbook they wanted to try. You can tell she does not have children.
