  • Just as I remembered, even when I didn't

I was a huge Archie comics fan as a kid, and now as the father to an 8 and 11 year old, I'm turning them onto the gang as well - not easy to do in this day and age....but sure enough, they;ve come to love Archie and his pals (they love the cartoons on dvd too)....this book is much better and a better value than buying the digest that are out there. The stories are reproduced beautifully, and in chronological order. So for someone like me, who considers the late 50's to the early 70's as the prime era for Archies, the beginning of the book is a bit cheesy as the 40's and early 50's stories can seem a bit odd, and then conversely the 80's to the present don't do much for me, although they have their moments. But, depending on your age, you'll have your own favorite era....and even mediocre Archie is still worth reading - very recommended - can't wait for vol 2!

I bought the entire series for my husband and he absolutely loves it. He said the book is a little different than the show but he loves it.

Was disappointed to order this book only for the order to not ship out for a week, then be sent an email about it not having been sent out, cancel if you want in the next few days or we'll ship it out, etc. When the book finally arrived...it was a great read, but I'll be a little hesitant to buy from overstock.com again because this was my first experience and it didn't exactly match up with other sites that I've tried.

Big time comics fan across various genres and no loyalty to studious big or small. If a book is good, I read it. If I like it, I add it to my collection: period. That out of the way, Image needs to step up to the plate with their design and production for these enormous editions because their current design and production quality just plain suck! If you buy this hoping to read it and enjoy it for years to come, you have my pity. If you are buying this for a solid option to catch up on this series and get 50 FULL ISSUES of THE DARKNESS at a great price, then you are on the right path! By the way, I like The Darkness a lot; just not a volume you will be able to shelf and come back to for future enjoyment or reference. Some higher quality design and production entries for these mega-hardcover releases from Image would be The Walking Dead & Invincible series releases, both created and written by Kirkman (Robert) ((THE MAN!!!) and released by Image. As a rule of thumb, currently ...
