Too little of the original. A disappointment. Not enough to have a meaningful experlence for young children.

I bought this for my niece so she can read to her little daughter. My niece told me it had so many stories & her daughter loves it when she reads them to her. She was very pleased.

Good coloring book for older children. Also, fun for folks who are bed-ridden for some reason. I am a senior citizen and had a good time with colored pencils filling in these wonderful ocean creatures designs. Passed the time in a creative way!

  • Frog Girl - Paperback

    Aug 4, 2014

crowblog  from The Great NorthWet, Rating:5.0

Frog Girl is cautionary tale of a NW Native - a young girl who saves her village from the destruction of a volcano - by returning captured frogs to their homes. It is partly a tale of compassion and kindness, partly a mythic introduction... It is utterly lavishly and wonderfully illustrated in the rich dark colors of the Pacific Northwest. Rather than an exact retelling of a specific Native Northwest story, it includes elements of many stories; and it is even further accessible in that it has a detailed index at the back for further study (by older readers). Parents have commented to me that their children seem very engaged in Frog Girl and Storm Boy (also by Paul Owen Lewis) and ask numerous questions, and want to hear the stories over & over again. This is out of print in hardback, but this is paperback is about the same size and inexpensive. You won't be sorry! Worth is for the illustrations alone.
