    • WEB Griffin's Call to Arms

This is another in the most popular WEB Griffin series about the Marine Corps of WWII. My husband who was a lowly pfc during that war agreed with almost everything Griffin wrote in this series. It's hard to imagine a time and a place where the USA was fighting for its life, but this was it. We had been devastated by the Japanese attack and regardless of what youthful America thinks today as they drive their Hondas, our way of life was at stake, Of course,Griffin is far too profuse with the four-letter word that Stecker tells us what it means, but beyond that, the story is a very good read and reread.

    • Call to Arms

W.E.B. Griffin is the quintessential of dialogue writing. Call to Arms is no exception. The only thing wrong with Griffin's Semper Fi series is that he did not carry it through the entire WWII to victory and then when he resumed it in two books about Korea, he stopped short of dealing with Gen. Douglas MacArthur's downfall. It would have been interesting to have his take on that.
