  • Some helpful techniques but mostly "canned" stuff

    Sep 5, 2014

Very dated. the average sales person will/can pick up a couple of techniques but the info is OLD info (think pre-email and social media). Hopkins narrates and he is way too canned for me. If you got to have it , pick one up that's used and cheap, look for mine on **** (lol) !

  • Great Book Club book for discussion

One of the longest (and most on topic) book club discussions I've been a part of surrounded this book. Great gift idea for anyone entering college or before negotiating their first job offer! Men and women alike should read this book and discuss the content!

Simple and very easy to use. Excellent prompts and guidance. Was able to complete all necessary documents in a very short period of time. Comprehensive and through.

  • Test Your Workplace Assumptions!

    Aug 8, 2014

salemclipper  from Northshore of Boston, MA, Rating:5.0

This updated edition of this well-respected handy manual offers proven advice on how to navigate the workplace and how to maximize one's career aspirations. It challenges many assumptions about how to get ahead within an organization. In addition to affirming that you've got to have the right skill sets, this manual advises that maintaining cordial [but not too close] relationships with co-workers helps your progress thru an organization or career. Along with all this, the author asserts that timing also is far more critical to advancement than most know. One sobering piece of advice for me was the warning: be careful of what you volunteer to take on in the workplace and with whom you associate. Provocative stuff---at such a reasonable cost for this powerful book.

Gift for my Son who is unemployed for the first time in his life (mid 40's) he is reading it and says it really helps. He thinks this will change his thinking he's not in his 20's and needs a new perspective. Thinks this will help him find a job.
