Bill Martin, Jr. (1916-2004) was an elementary-school principal, teacher, writer, and poet. His more than 300 books, among them the bestselling classics Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?; Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?; Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See?; and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, are a testament to his ability to speak directly to children. Martin held a doctoral degree in early childhood education. Born in Kansas, he worked as an elementary-school principal in Chicago before moving to New York City, where he worked in publishing developing innovative reading programs for schools. After several years, he devoted himself full-time to writing his childrenÂ’s books. He lived in New York until 1993, when he moved to Texas. He lived in the east Texas woods, near the town of Commerce, until he passed away in 2004.
Eric Carle is one of America's leading children's book illustrators. In addition to the classic children's books he created with Bill Martin, Jr., he is author and illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
A big happy frog, a plump purple cat, a handsome blue horse, and a soft yellow duck-- all parade across the pages of this delightful book. Children will immediately respond to Eric Carle's flat, boldly colored collages. Combined with Bill Martin's singsong text, they create unforgettable images of these endearing animals.

    • Great book when I received one that wasn't damaged

It was a hassle to receive another book, but when I finally did it was in perfect condition. First book received was damaged and I wonder if anybody looks at the product before it's shipped. This makes it a hassle for the consumer when items are damaged. Recently found this book for half the price in another store.

    • Great book for kids

Good educational book, I like the board books for my young grandson who could be a little rough with them. Should hold up to an 18 month old and remain in good condition for years. Also a great price!

    • All-time kid and parent favorite!

This is a must have book! I have a son and a daughter and this was a favorite for both! Its rhythmic and colorful. Because it has such a nice rhythm, it was the first book that my daughter read (or memorized)! Get a copy for all the kids that you know under age 4!

    • Brown Bear, Brown Bear

This is a cardboard book suitable for infants and toddlers. It is not good for a class read as it is too small. The book however is heavy duty. The children love the flow of this book and that they can sing along. It is also great for color and animal themes, along with a teacher community helper theme. A classroom must!
