My daughter has been trying to learn to tie her shoe for some time now, and loves to practice on the book. I find it easier than a real shoe. She still doesnt have the hang of it just yet but getting close!!! The only thing I do not like is the method they use. Its hard for her to hold a loop in each shoetring on each hand at the same time.

The title definitely describes the scope of what is covered, i.e., Steve Martin's stand-up comedy path and history. WIsh he had discussed his movies more, but hopefully there'll be another book/CD to follow. This was my first book on tape and it was labeled "unabridged" so I bought it hoping i did not miss any content by not reading the book. I figure I missed out on the photos, and it would have been nice if the packaging somehow worked some photos into it. But I got the CDs because Steve himself was doing the reading and I wanted something to listen to during a 4-hour commute to a client site. It kept me entertained and i hope he'll follow up with a similar work that covers his movie career. If you're a Steve Martin fan, you'll enjoy this.

This is a very unique novel. It is really 13 short stories that tie together through themes and two characters. I actually didn't "Love" the story, but the writing is magical, the construction of the book is amazing, and it is a great book club book as there is so much to discuss!

Absolutely love this cook book. All the ease of a box cake mix with just enough additions to make it taste slaved over! My kids use it too. We are always pulling it out and finding some recipe that fits the random ingredients in our house.

I was searching for an unabridged version of Les Miserables everywhere and no one else had it. So if you want the full story - and why would you not??? - no need to look further than this book. I read Les Mis in highschool and loved it so this purchase was for my highschool aged son. He's really enjoying it. One nice feature is the extra notes about Victor Hugo, timeline etc. to enhance the story and make it a real learning experience. Very pleased with the book!

This book was a struggle to finish - I kept hoping for some kind of conclusion or something to tie all the ends together. The description listed it as 'original' which I took to mean that it was either a stand-alone story or the first of a series to come, but it seemed more like a shakey sequel. It had so many areas where the story assumed that the reader had prior knowledge of characters' backgrouds and important events that I lost count of how many times I went back to the flyleaf, back cover and Overstock website to see if I had inadvertently missed the first book of the set.... When I finally convinced myself that I had not overlooked a precursor, I struggled on to the end, still hoping that there would be some conclusion or a hint of a sequel. Unfortunately not; it seemed to just cut off at the end of the final chapter. I was left hanging, confused as to where and how the story started and where in the universe it was going. Perhaps there will be a 'prequel to the sequel' that will let the reader know how it all began.... It read rather like a low-budget 'C' movie with bad acting, half-developed charactors and an unsupported plot. In fact, the story really doesn't develope at all beyond what the description says - once you read the description, you pretty much have the entire book...a lot of words and pages going nowhere. I'll be taking this book to the used book store to trade in (I normally keep all my books!)

I enjoyed this book. It is an adult read though. The writer is explicit in her reference to things. I hope that Linda Berdoll writes a third book, to tie up some of the loose ends from her 1st and 2nd book.

I received this book as a gift to me for perfect attendance in my Kindergarten year of school which was June, 1947. A long time ago. I noticed that the book was copy written in 1947 so I have sort of a "firtst edition". Well, my youngest daughter will have her first baby in March of 2011 and I thought it would be nice to give the baby its first book of a baby library and that being a copy of a book that has such a significant tie for me to my baby years.

The product is what is advertised. You will want to read it if you have been following the series. It is not the best of the series. But it does tie up the loose ends.

I have learned Spanish since I was in the 1st grade at public school. I received a 99 on my Regent's HS Exam. I speak it decently. However, recently I started to assist a Hispanic individual to learn English. Some words and expressions I have not used in a long time. I purchased this dictionary to assist me. Also this individual also uses Spanish words I am not familiar with. I find it in this dictionary, which helps both of us t communicate better, and learn new words. I would highly recommend this dictionary for just about all ages.

I like my dictionary, having orginally bought it for a sign class. It's much like a typical written word dictionary but with pictures, of course! My only complaint is that the pictures are kind of small, and, at my advanced age, I would like to not have to strain to try to "read" the sign and its movement. Maybe I should look for a large picture version!

I feel jipped. I bought this book thinking it was the original text of the classic, but not so -- it's only HALF the book! (the original is closer to 500 pages) WHY sell this if it's not the original??? They should at LEAST note in the description that it's not the complete original. But instead it's listed as an "unabridged" version. Isn't unabridged the whole book??? So, now I have to pay for shipping to return the damn thing. Not fair.

This novel exceeded my expectations in terms of quality of the story and was an enjoyable and excellent read. When I think of video game tie-in novels, I tend to be prejudiced towards thinking of them as juvenile and just in it for a quick buck from fans of the games. Eric Nylund did an amazing job of fleshing out the characters and setting, and allowing the book to stand on its own merits. I am a fan of the Halo video games, but I believe that these books would be accessible to any fan of sci-fi action novels, especially if they like special forces/military novels as well (such as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six novel). I can also highly recommend his follow up novel, First Strike. Skip "The Flood", written by a different author, as it follows the story of the first Halo game, and doesn't really bring anything new to the table.
