  • Python from the VERY BEGINNING!

    Jan 21, 2015

Python is a high level programming language. This book covers from the very basics starting with how to install python, what the interpreter is, and picks up with the "print" command, "input" up into "If" commands, "while" loops lists and most of the command line programming, then gets into building webpages, also gets into building programs in window boxes and buttons, drop-down menus and input boxes... And one section in the book even teaches how to compile your program into a .EXE for distribution. If you have very little programming or its been a long time, This book is a GREAT way to get caught up! Its also a great way to pick up the Python syntax if you just want to learn a new language! I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn! I have mine and have already wore it out, Might get a second to teach my kids with. This is also a great book to learn Raspberry Pi with!

Not to scare anyone but about half the quilts in this book are not beginner friendly. Those quilts are stunning designs with set in seams and diamonds (not strip pieced). I'm not saying you shouldn't buy this book because there are quilts that are simpler and are just as appealing. Judy Martin's books are well written and have clear instructions and cutting diagrams for rotary cutting and hand piecing. The book also has the quilts shown with different coloring ideas and in the case of the Rolling Log Cabin quilt shown on the cover, different settings for the blocks. The recipes included look yummy and great for potlucks, hence the title of the book.

  • Not As Easy As I'd Like

The recipes are a bit complicated for a book about making scaled down desserts. Although I recognize that baking can be complex, that level of complexity for two seems inordinate. However, there are interesting baked goods to try but I'm not sure how useful it is as a cookbook. Because I am not inclined to make these recipes due to their complexity for two, the cookbook becomes less useful. The downsized baked good versions from ATK's cookbook prompted me to search for other downsized recipes. In addition, there are no pictures of any of the baked goods except for illustration that are decorative rather than informative. If you're an avid baker who enjoys more complex recipes, the recipes are well proportioned for downsized baking instead of just dividing a normal recipes by half, thirds or quarters.

My nephew loves this. He writes the codes and shortcuts for the game in his notebook. Great purchase. I highly recommend it as a gift for someone who loves Skyrim.
