This book was recommended to me by a friend. They said it was cute and not necessarily only for kids. So I picked it up as a coffee table book and boy was I amazed. Not only is the story cute and but everyone can relate to the character Sam; it also has a good moral at the end of the story. It's a great way to teach your kids or even to teach yourself that the grass might not always be greener on the other side. I can't wait to have kids and read this to them. I will be looking out for more stories from this writer & artist hoping the tease at the end might be a preview of what's to come.

Sam Harris does a remarkable job of expressing his point of view to the reader. I would highly recommend "The End of Faith" to anyone, atheist or theist. - For the Atheist looking for a book to give to a religious friend, I would suggest "Letter to a Christian Nation"; it is much shorter, allowing one to easily read it in a single day.

While I am sympathetic to Sam Harris' arguments against religion; I must say that he has much maturing to do as an author before I can whole-heartedly recommend his works. If you are looking for an informative and well written argument for Darwinian evolution which, naturally, refutes the weak arguments of organized religion look to Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion." Harris, unlike Dawkins, often sounds pedantic and intentionally inflammatory. I do not doubt Harris' intelligence nor do I find significant faults with his core arguments (though his doomsday prognostications and radical politics can be difficult to stomach). However, his flip style of dealing with religious doctrine only serves to alienate (by deliberately offending) those semi-religious adherents who may be inclined to listen to reasonable arguments against their faith. Hopefully Harris will continue to mature and produce influential works in the future, but for now his works seem to do more harm to the American secular movement than good.

A wonderfully engaging story about a boy named Sam, and how he uses toys and such to create a path to his Mom. "Just a minute" and " I need something else" become delightfully repeated phrases ... an opportunity for the listener to partake in the story. My four and five year old students ask to hear the story again and again.

Oliver Justice Chandler, Ollie for short, Portland Oregon detective. A modern day Sherlock Holmes, Mike Hammer, Sam Spade all rolled into one. Even calls his house the old brownstone referring to Sherlock Holmes, wears a trench coat and a fedora hat to match the classics. Someone who goes against the flow rubs people the wrong way but always follows the evidence to solve the crime. Right now he¿s against his toughest. Professor William Palatine a philosopher nut, a reputation with his female students has been found murdered. Chandler and his partner Manny is the up team to take the call. His buddy Clarence Abernathy, a reporter from the Oregon Tribune is assigned to follow him and write about him. Everyone assumes he¿ll screw up and the press will be there. Luckily Clarence is his friend. Strange thing is the evidence at the crime scene points to the murderer as being a cop. All the detectives in his division are suspect even Chandler himself as he¿s not sure where he was at the time of the murder the last thing he remembers is being at one of his favorite hangouts the bar. The Chief wants the investigation stopped as it looks bad on the department. But Chandler must find out who did this even if it was himself. He enlists the help of his buddies Jake Woods and Clarence who are always tag teaming to try to get Chandler saved. But Chandler can¿t believe a good God would allow murders to happen, the death of his wife and two year old son and the torn relationships with his daughters, one of which is missing. But time is running out someone has been attempting to kill Chandler and even goes so far as to poison his best friend and bulldog Mike Hammer, Mulch for short who loves bacon and beer. Chandler rushing against time to solve the crime before the murderer gets him just as he¿s reconnected with one of his daughters, Kendra as they attempt to start a new relationship, who also has a connection to Palatine. Will Mulch survive? Will Chandler solve the murder and find God in the process? What if Chandler is the murderer or even one of his friends on the squad? See what happens as this thriller unfolds with all the twists and turns you¿ll be amazed at the outcome. This book is absolutely amazing! It¿s Sam Spade and C.S. Lewis all rolled into one. Forget Christian fiction this book deserves to be on the best sellers list! It¿s as suspenseful as a John Grisham novel. The author Randy Alcorn who has written twenty five novels does an awesome job with this page turner. You¿ll laugh, you¿ll cry even get mad as you read ¿ you won¿t be able to put this one down! Actually this is the third novel in the line of mysteries Deadline and Dominion being the other two which have also received rave reviews. This reviewer loved the Sherlock Holmes quotes before each chapter and you¿ll see heaven come alive as Chandler¿s friends and family that have passed on discuss Ollie with the Carpenter, Jesus. You¿ll cry as Carly, Jake¿s daughter dies and meets Jesus and really see the other place as Palatine finds himself there after his murder. A must read for any Christian but great for the unsaved as the questions unfold from Chandler as he questions God¿s existence. Even the discussion questions in the back of the book make it great for a book group or reaching the unsaved. So as the saying goes taped on Ollie¿s refrigerator ¿Examine the evidence. Then follow wherever it leads.¿ Don¿t miss this suspense thriller as it is a must, great read and one of the best of 2007 novels - Christian or not.

Sam Harris is a brilliant man who eloquently and passionately advocates his belief that civilization needs to cease its dependence on religious dogma. This is truly an excellent read, and I highly recommend his follow-up text, Letter to a Christian Nation, as well. I should warn you that he's not too kind to those who still hold on to their religious faiths; this book was definitely written for people who think like him.

Three years ago my circumstances changed, I got married and since had a baby girl. I decided to use some will software to redo some of my old estate planning documents. Previously I had a will and living trust created by an attorney costing in the region of $1500. My financial situation has obviously changed also. On a recommendation from a friend who's an Attorney, I decided to use this will writing software, primarily to save money. At $47, it was a small price to pay when I realize the value of what I had received. Firstly I had to revoke my previous will and trust, this software enabled me revoke both my previous will and trust, providing clear instructions on what needed to be done to revoke both. The revocation of the will was included in my new will, while the trust had to be done separately. The creation process for documents is easy and thorough with a comprehensive help system included making the entire process user friendly and easy to follow. While other documents are available on the software my main interest was the will and the living trust, a document vital to reducing administration expenses on death and other issues. I did use the property management worksheets as I found it useful to organize myself prior to deciding what I wanted in my living trust and will. The whole process took some time, of course I could do it in 20 minutes but I needed time to think and reflect on these important decisions. It was my family's future after all. Time I might not have had if I was sitting in from of an attorney. Now my documents are created and saved, I can edit or changed them anytime. The software also included a estate planning manual which is a wonderful addition and proved so helpful in giving me information to consider before completing my estate plan. Overall I found the software to be a great investment and well worth the money for anyone wishing to create an estate plan.

I cannot even begin to express how wonderful I think this book is, in every way! It is absolutely gorgeous and is destined to become a children’s Christmas classic! The illustrations are vibrant in color and skillfully done. I liked how realistic they were and some almost appear dimensional. A good story is important (and this is one!) but illustrations can make or break a book where children are concerned. A young boy named Sam is excited about Christmas, like any other child during the holiday. But this is where the similarity with many other Christmas story ends. The focus is not on “Santa”, or what gifts Sam is going to get. The story centers on caring, doing for others in need, and Jesus. Sam’s mother puts a beautiful silver box on the mantle. All she will tell him is that it is a special gift called a Sparkle Box. She explains that it must first be filled before it can be opened. Each time he asks, he is told they must put more things in it. Throughout the book, the family is shown giving to those less fortunate. What amazed me was that Sam as a youngster noticed where people were lacking. This is such a great example for children reading the book, as most are about,”me, me, me.” Christmas morning they open the Sparkle Box. In it are slips of paper and written on each one are the acts of benevolence their family has had been undertaking throughout the holiday. His mother explains that they are their gifts to Jesus in honor of His birthday. Sam was confused as they had given the gifts to people, not Jesus. His mother explains that when we give to others we are giving to Him. There were so many things I liked about this book. First, Christmas was being celebrated with all the decorations and special traditions, but that was not the emphasis. The focal point was Christ and the less fortunate. It is quite the opposite nowadays as else is highlighted by all the worldly activities and Jesus is pushed aside. I also liked the fact that Santa wasn’t mentioned once. His image as grown to such proportions that he takes the place of Christ. Not only in celebrating Christmas but sadly in the hearts of children. Little ones love to give and this book introduces them to the idea of how to give gifts to Jesus by helping the needy. I was surprised and delighted to see in the back of the book was a Sparkle Box to put together! You can start your own family tradition of giving gifts to the One Who gave all to us! A must have for anyone that has children or works with children! It is a book to be treasured through generations! I received this book free from Ideal Publications.******************* I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

To badly paraphrase J. I. Packer, in the 2000+ years of Christendom, there has been a forest of great Christians. The Puritans are the giant redwoods in that forest. These prayers are unmatched by anything I've ever seen in terms of their fervor, their Scripture-saturated poetry, and their obsession for giving God all glory. This is a wonderful resource for a Christian's devotional life. Sam-I-Am

This is a great book that explores the reasons why faith fails us and indeed causes us more harm than it's worth. We accept so many nonsensical beliefs because so many other people believe them. But under the calm, rational light of reason, these beliefs crack and crumble. We need to do this reasoning or these unhsubstantiated beliefs will continue to create more pain for the people of the world. Sam Harris has done us all a wonderful service by writing this provocative book.

I bought this recipe book for my niece as I love this guy's show. I never saw the book, so I don't know the quality of the recipes or the quality of the book. I'm assuming it's all good because Sam makes fabulous dishes on his show and usually they are pretty easy. My niece just got married and isn't much of a cook, so I'm hoping that Sam'll hook her up! She was very happy w/ the book.

I was huge fan of Charlene Harris and this series, but this is will only take you about 30 minutes of time to read, and you will ask yourself why you wasted 30 of time you can never get back. If there were no stars this would be a better rating, all it made me feel is why read or buy another one of her books. Sookie marries Sam, 4 kids later, Eric still in OK, and Bill is King
