This is an absolutely fabulous book for getting an understanding of the complexity of religion in the middle east and background that got us to where we are now. The author vividly explores the cultures, religions, and history from the 5th century to the current time and makes you feel as if you are taking the journey with him. There is much food for thought it the reading but it is entertaining as well.

In Barack Obama's new book, The Audacity of Hope, he outlines his feelings and his experiences getting to where he is today. Most people do not like politics, and this book, while it is of political stance, it is not party recruitment propaganda. I, personally, enjoy politics, but was still glad this was not just politics in black and white. This book is a MUST READ if you enjoy the political world, or if you think that all politicians are drones (this will prove otherwise). Barack Obama is a strong, upstanding man. There is no audacity of hope in this book. Just pure pleasure, and hope. Period. There is no audacity in this man's message.

This was a christmas gift for my brother. Nice book, but thought it was a little pricey. Course it is a new release. They tend to be more expensive.

Book arrived within 3 days. It was well wrapped and in mint condition. Although this was the first book I purchased from Overstock, it won't be the last. I would highly recommend others to purchase books this way--a particularly good value as a Club O Member since I only had to pay $1 for my whole order that day!

I really enjoyed the book on audio, so I could listen at work. I am a great Obama follower, and what he has to say here is incredible! He makes so much sense, it's hard not to like him. As for my rating on entertainment value being a 3... he says some things that are humorous, but it is meant to be an informational type of book. When obama wrote this book, it was not in his plans to run for president... but I believe the "Higher Powers that Be" had lined him up for it. The information he gives is so helpful to understanding where we are and why, and he offers a way out!

I bought this book because Obama has won the presidential election and since he was not my choice and I really didn't know that much about him, I thought it would help me to know him. I have only read the prologue of this book so far and found it very interesting. I believe everyone should support whoever is the President no matter who you voted for. Let's pray that he is all he seems to be.

Thomas Frank performs a yeoman's work, explaining how imagined cultural grievances against coastal elites have turned poor rural Americans into supporters of economic deregulation, tax cuts for the rich, and slashing of the social safety net upon which they depend more than the average city dwellers. The GOP's base of "values voters" is subsequently revealed as a bait-and-switch game, where opposition to abortion, gay marriage, and popular music are used to channel support for laissez-faire economic policies... which primarily benefit a small number of wealthy coastal elites.

Faith thought she knew her sister- until she finds her in the bushes with the man Faith loves. From page one the rift can only grow wider as these two sisters battle for the same man. The trials in this Irish American family only escalate as loving sisters turn on each other, their love for the same man bringing out the absolute worst in their relationship. Pushing all involved to the breaking point. This was my first book by Julie Lessman and I was not disappointed. This book is long, 477 pages and I didnt know if she could hold the tension through the entire novel. I was never bored during one page during the story. There were times I felt I was eavesdropping on the characters, my heart breaking at times and others so mad I could have throttled one or two myself. There is something to be said of an author who draws forth a readers emotions, Julie knows how to wield that all too fine tool and does it masterfully. This book certainly does seep passion from nearly every page, albeit appropriate, nothing sensual, but she knows how to spark the imagination and captivate the reader into the story. Never was I sorrier to see a book come to its end. I am so glad there is a sequel!
