Isle of Fire is an adventurous pirate fiction, the sequel to Isle of Swords. It displays many moral themes, with great plot precision. Declan Ross and his daughter, Anne have teamed up with Commodore Blake to hire his pirate friends to help hunt down the enemy pirates, including Bartholomew Thorne, who has escaped his prison. Cat is asked to join the Brethrens quest against the dreaded Merchant, and accepts, and gives Anne the opportunity to join him on the sea. She is given permission by Declan, and they track the Merchant to the Isla Secreta, his hideout. Meanwhile, Thorne has sailed to the Raukar tribe, an ancient surviving Viking clan. He enlists their aid and their fiery cannons, which no one could have been prepared for. He sets their fleet out for an attack on England, which Declan has picked up a rumor about. Declan warns his friends and they set out to disrupt Thornes plans.

Incredible book! Mr. Batson, with his simple, yet fast paced writing style, knows how to spin an amazing tale! Whipped half to death, a teen wakes on an island with no memory of who he is and how he got there. A pouch he clutches holds a shock of hair, a small cross, and a rare green diamond pirates would kill for (and do). Declan Ross, captain of the Wallace, and later the Bruce (and what a battle it was!), wants to free himself and his somewhat annoying and headstrong daughter Anne from the piracy business forever. But when he crosses with the notorious, blood thirsty pirate Bartholomew Thorne, things get ugly for him and a friendly order of monks... who hold the last (um... maybe not) map to the long lost treasure of Constantine located on the volcanic Isle of Swords. 115% percent, absolutely incredible!

This cookbook is wonderful-reason why is because I actually met joanne Chang at her Myers+Chang restaurant. I also sampled the famous pop-tarts that she features in the cookbook. One word for the pop-tarts: SUPERB. I also will be trying the muffins, cupcakes and several other wonderful recipies until Fall/Winter. I recommend getting this cookbook as a gift for the novice cook. If you reside in boston, get those poptarts, gift wrap them and present the pop-tarts with an autographed cookbook by Chang. I love this cookbook!

I picked up this book skeptical of pirate books that claimed to be clean, but I was proved wrong. Captain Jack Ross his crew, and his feisty daughter, Anne, are thrown into an adventure and quest to acquire a wonderful treasure hidden by monks. With shipwrecks, an evil pirate, adventures on the high seas, and a great message, this book is a great read for fiction lovers. I loved this book with it's characters full of personalities and the adventures of pirates. It weaves the story in a way that keeps you turning the pages. Anne Ross is one of my few very favorite female characters of all time. I love her spirit, courage, and strength. Truly inspiring, not to mention a swashbuckling adventure!

Quite possibly, Mamets greatest work to date. It is at least the equal of Glengarry Glen Ross, Edmond, and American Buffalo, if not better. Mamet walks the tightrope of race in America, questioning and arguing nearly every assumption and stereotype of the past 50 years on race relations. The plot involves an older white man, accused of raping an African American woman. The two lawyers considering taking the case one black and one white, with a black woman as their new assistant. This four-person cast, with only three together at any one time, provides a fairly amazing multitude of conversations on the case in particular, and race in general. Nearly every aspect of the topic is brought up in some way, truly plumbing the angst, rage, and confusion of the subject matter in a very short period of time (only 64 pages). While I would have liked to see the last scene go on a little longer, maybe another 15 or 20 pages, this work is shocking, thought-provoking, and utterly brilliant.

Joanne Kennedy is another creative writer and knew how to come up with a totally different story. The book was very good and held one's interest. I would definitely recommend the book to others. If you love cowby stories, this is the one for you!
