As a little girl, who loved all things girly, Cinderella was my favorite fairy tale. In fact, I had the entire book memorized before I even started school. So when I had the chance to read If the Shoe Fits, a contemporary fairy tale (minus the fairy and magic part) by Sandra Bricker, I was excited to preview the book. Julianne is a successful young lawyer who has just opened her own firm with her best friend Will. While things are going well professionally, Julianne has yet to find her Prince Charming, whom she is desperately seeking. The story opens with Julianne narrowly escaping an auto accident, but witnessing an amazing and handsome man rescue a dog. Wow. Amazing, handsome, AND he loves animals?? How can this man not be her perfect match? As fate would have it, he leaves his toolbox and a boot (nod to Cinderella) at the scene of the accident. Julianne places an ad in hopes that the handsome owner will claim his belongings and that she can claim his heart in the process. As time goes on, Julianne does indeed get to meet this Prince Charming, Paul, who is a carpenter. However, her plans to not go as she intended. Indeed, it seems that they have less and less in common as they get to know each other. All the while, Julianne's best friend Will is in love with her, and everyone seems to know except Julianne. His former fiance even looked like Julianne! Every time Will decides to declare his feelings for Julianne, she makes a comment or makes a decision that leaves Will feeling like she will never want anything more from him than friendship. Throw in a sweet girl next door, Allison, who has been set up with Will by her sister as well as Julianne's arch enemy Lacey, who also has her eye on Will, we have an interesting love triangle going! As Julianne and Will dance around their feelings for each other while dating other people, we are left to wonder if Julianne will ever realize that Will is the Prince Charming that has been waiting for her all along. This book was so fun to read! In fact, I read it in one day. The characters were fun and interesting. While this book does not have what I would call "suspense," there are some interesting plot twists that I didn't see coming. I enjoyed this book so much and am excited for the next book in the series

These two novellas by Sandra Bricker are a fun spin for anyone who has had a case of the Christmas grouchies or has just not been in the Christmas Spirit. Joss does everything that she can to avoid all things Christmas. So she makes plans to set off on the Bah Humbug Cruise with her friend Reese. When Joss tells Reese about their plans for that year, Reese announces that she is engaged and that she will be going to meet her future in laws over the holiday season. Joss embarks on the cruise alone, only to discover that the Bah Humbug cruise has been cancelled and she has been rebooked on the 12 Days of Christmas cruise. To her horror, as she prepares to disembark, she discovers that the ship has already set sail. As determined as she is to stay holed up in her room and avoid the holiday festivities, a certain, handsome Irish gentleman is just as determined to capture all her attention. Reese arrives to meet her future in laws and meets with disaster and catastrophe along the way. As she tries to fit in and get to know the family, she causes horrible and unbelievable "bumps" in the road. Both of these novellas were laugh out loud hysterical! I enjoyed both of them so much. The novellas were a fun detour from the traditional Christmas novels. I highly recommend Merry Humbug Christmas. You will not be disappointed!

Faith O'Connor is in love with the bad boy Collin McGuire. Collin wants nothing to do with Faith b/c of her faith in God, but he longs to be apart of a loving family again. His solution is Faith's younger and more beautiful sister Charity. But can Collin continue to deny his feelings for Faith? And can Faith put her love for Collin aside to stay true to God? In this book Mrs. Lessman has captured the truth about what it is like for a young Christian girl (at any age or time period I might add) to draw a line in the sand and stay pure for God and her future husband (in this day and age the line is almost non existent) instead of throwing your morals to the wind and just doing what feels good at the time. No harm done, right? Wrong and Mrs. Lessmen shows that following God's path and not our own leads us to happier marriages and lives. Not that our lives wont be harder by doing so but just much better in the long run. Anything worth having takes a lot of effort. That message needs to be out there, and I believe Mrs. Lessmen has done it with this book. I would recommend this book to the young and young at heart!! Please read.

I was very refreshed to read If The Shoe Fits by Sandra Bricker. This modern day romance novel gave several nods to a fairy tale that has been loved for so many years: Cinderella. This book didn't quite follow the exact all is happy, sudden demise, and then happily ever after as so many romances do. It followed much closer to Cinderella: happiness, lots of pain and trouble, and then after the ball, more trouble and finally a happy ending. I found myself reading as fast as possible, needing to know exactly how the book reached the perfect ending. I fell in love with so many of the characters and I liked that there was were happy endings for many of the characters, not just the main characters. This was definitely a wonderful rendition of happily ever after! *I received a galley of this book, but this review is my honest opinion.

No better way to get into the holiday spirit then by reading this book Merry Humbug Christmas. It truly is a contemporary classic! Sandra D. Bricker always seems to exceed the readers expectations with each book she writes. And with this book you actually get two stories rolled into one. What a deal that is! This book is about Joss who is not a fan of Christmas and likes to escape from the whole holiday spirit almost a contemporary Grinch in reality. You and I can so relate!! But with such a twist of events Joss ends up on a 12 days of Christmas Cruise. Can you imagine one landing on this ship? Yet as Sandra seems to have a way of taking an impossible situation and adding a dose of laughter into it makes the impossible actually something to laugh about and cheer her on. On top of this her best friend Reese, who usually goes away with her at Christmas can't and has her own adventure and can't be there to help her friend thru this cruise. So Joss is all alone on this journey. Reese has her own adventures or should I say Misadventures that will keep you rolling in laughter, and tears and you leave the book realizing that you now have two new friends Joss and Ross and their friends who will now make your Christmas a time of love, family and friendships. This book will be on your mantel for years to come. Enjoy the adventure!!!

I just can't say it often enough how much I love every single book by Sandra. To make it even better this one is a Christmas novel. I just adore the characters. It cracked me up at how different they are. Joss hates Christmas and gets stuck on a "12 days of Christmas Cruise" instead of a "Bah Humbug Cruise" and Reese has one misadventure after another while meeting her fiance's family over the Christmas holiday. I love how both stories tie together but even more I love how they are still separate giving each character an awesome amount of action. I just can't get enough of Sandra D. Bricker. I have every book she has written. I always make sure I have enough time set aside before beginning any of her books as I won't put them down until I am finished. BRAVO Sandie yet another WINNER in my opinion. I received and advanced copy of the book in exchange for my honest review of this book. I also purchased the kindle edition of this book for my every growing ebook library.

I know when I start reading a book by Sandra D. Bricker that it is going to be a lot of fun. Merry Humbug Christmas was just that. A lot of fun. A girl who avoids Christmas somehow ends up booked on a "Twelve Days of Christmas" cruise. Her best friend goes to "meet the parents" and it turns out to be a comedy of errors. I loved it. This book has everything; humor, romance, and Christmas (including an ugly sweater contest and over-the-top pajamas). What's not to love?

Raw Edges, Quilts of Love Series by Sandra D. Bricker A brilliant story about the loss cancer causes. In preparation of her final days Jenna McDonough writes a journal for her daughter Sadie. This treasure is full of words to give peace, inspiration and love, a keepsake that will be treasured forever. Her husband Gary faithfully reads it to her. After the passing of her mother, Sadie and her father receive an invitation to attend an ovarian cancer support group meeting. Gary goes with her because he knows it may help. There they meet a great group of ladies preparing to make a memory quilt. By attending, Gary got more than he could have imagined. There he meets Annabelle Curtis, a cancer survivor, organizing the memory quilt project for the Ovacome support group. Somehow she gets both him and Sadie involved in the project. This story gives hope to the grieving. The author Sandra Bricker will have you laughing out loud, crying and smiling throughout the whole book. I especially loved the journal and the scripture it had, I thought this was a wonderful gift to leave behind for our loved ones. The death of a loved one is hard enough, but to me is even harder when you leave behind young children. This book touches on many painful and joyful things we experience with loss, feelings of grief, raising children as a single parent, moving on in life, and dating. As cancer touches many of our lives this book will give hope and inspiration to the hurting. I highly recommend this book. Sandra D. Bricker touched some tough subjects with sensitivity, grace and integrity. To think a book on such a hard subject could have a blessedly happy ending. I would like to thank the author and publisher for writing and bringing good clean Christian books to readers like me.

Sandra Bricker has added another go to book to my collection! Rise and Shine is definitely my new favorite book. It kept me reading with the humor but also the reminders of past technology and just how quickly it changes weaved throughout a love story that also reminds you how great humans act. The modern day take on Sleeping Beauty was cleverly done which keeps a reader who loves intelligent yet fun reads reading. No need to hesitate before reading this book. I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest feedback.

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book from the author. I wanted an advanced copy after I read the synopsis..."Julianne used to believe in fairy tales; she's been watching for Prince Charming to come charging in on his white steed ever since the day her mother read her Cinderella for the first time. But she's never come close to finding the perfect man-instead she's always tripping over her childhood best friend, Will." Every girl searches for her "perfect love story!" Since the time we are born, our parents read us countless love stories such as Cinderella, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast to name a few. We go on date after date, both good and bad, and search for the one perfect guy... and sometimes he is right in front of us. Julianne, our key character, has everything. She has a perfect job, wonderful friends, and great mother. The only thing she is missing in her fairy tale is love. Throughout the book, we join her journey in search of her perfect love story. And boy is she looking... Sandra Bricker is an amazing author. During the course of the book, Julianne was so real in Bricker's writing, that I pictured myself as her. I was able to put myself in Julianne's shoes. I had such empathy and passion for this character that it wasn't hard to feel what she was feeling. I would recommend this book to everyone and give it five stars up!! Sandra Bricker is the perfect christian chick-lit author. I would even recommend this book to my non-christian friends. Everyone read this book!!!

Merry HUMBUG Christmas by Sandra D. Bricker is two stories in one book: Once Upon a Jingle Bell and It Came Upon a Midnight Deer. The story line centers around two friends (Jocelyn Merry Snow previously named Merry Christmas Snow and her best friend Reese Pendergrass) who attempt to avoid the celebration of Christmas at all costs. Each year they determine to enjoy the Christmas season by not celebrating Christmas and by dodging all Christmas festivities. Until, that is, Reese decides that she wants to spend a traditional Christmas with her fiancé’s family. This decision turns the plans for another “anti-festive Christmas” into a tail spin. Both friends are in for a Christmas season that they will never forget. Jocelyn ends up on a “12 Days of Christmas” Cruise and finds companionship with a handsome Irishman, his stately mother, and a very sweet Christmas nut. Reese’s traditional Christmas turns into one catastrophe after another. Your sympathetic thoughts will surely turn in Reses’ direction. I personally love the references to the older/classic television shows and movies such as: Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, The Dick Van Dyke Show, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Bishops Wife and the Partridge Family. These two stories are full of wit, charm, laughter, and plenty of Christmas merriment. You can visualize the events in your mind as they take place in the stories. This is the type of “feel good book” that should be read curled up by the fire, while drinking hot apple cider, and watching the snow fall through your window. This is the first Sandra Bricker book that I have read and I plan to read many more.

I am so happy that I ordered "But not the Hippopotamus" and three other Sandra Boynton books from Overstock. We received the books within a couple of days for just $3 shipping. Who can beat that??? The price of the books was comparable to other book sites. The books are so funny and cute. My 9-month old seems to like them and they're entertaining for adults, too.

Pre-Publication copy reviewed Sandra Bricker kicks off a new romantic comedy contemporary series based on classic fairy tales. If the Show Fits, based on Cinderella, tells the humorous story of a modern-day Cinderella waiting for her prince. In If the Show Fits, on the very day Julianne opens a law firm with her childhood friend, Will, she sees a handsome stranger rescue a dog from the middle of a busy intersection. As he carries the dog off, with his long coat flowing out behind him, she is captivated by his physical beauty and love for animals. When she looks again, he is gone. Then she notices that his tool box and his work boot fall out of his truck. Julianne takes it as a sign that she has seen her Prince Charming. She tracks him down to return the items, but is he as charming as she dreams? She thinks she has found her prince, but more she gets to know him, the less charming he seems to be. Julianne wants God’s plan for her life but will she recognize it before it is too late? For this Cinderella, the shoe (boot) is on the other foot – she is looking for her prince, not the other way around. How hard should she work to make things fit? Cinderella (Julianne) has her ball and eventually her prince, but not before facing challenges in finding her “happy ending.” Bricker writes her trademark humor in this laugh-out loud story where Cinderella doesn’t recognize God’s plan for her. With witty narrative and likeable primary and secondary characters, Bricker strikes just the right balance to bring a twist to this contemporary fairy tale. The Christian elements are light, not preachy. Its humor and romance are clean, not unlike the old black-and-white romantic comedies featuring one’s favorite actors.
