A Woman of Fortune by Kellie Coates Gilbert You are sure to fall in love with Claire Massey as she loses everything, family, home, fortune and every material thing you can imagine but the inner strength she finds is amazing. A Woman of Fortune is a fantastic book. One thing that really stood out to me is how far the consequence of our sin hurts not only us but others. I found myself emotional drawn to Claires story and how she handled betrayal, heart break and humility with grace. If I was to take one thing away from this story it would be you can survive the unthinkable. Family, true friends and faith is all that really matter not material things. The author Kellie Coates Gilbert is an outstand writer. This book is skillfully written with well developed characters. I can only hope the author continues this story. If you like Christian Fiction you are sure to love a Woman of Fortune, I give it 5 stars. I want to give a high-five to the author Kellie Coates Gilbert and Revell for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. I was provided with this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for the authors and publishers generosity.

I suppose this book has been reviewed thousands of times since Sean Penn decided to make a film of the story. Haven't seen the movie. I read the book years ago and gave this recent copy to a friend who HAD seen the film. I remember that the book left me with a sense of desolation and waste. The young man had heroic ambitions and an idealism that disdained practical considerations -- such as having a map -- that ultimately led to his slow death from poisoning. I'm not sure that his quest was admirable, or worthy of a book and film. He indulged in one of those misguided and reckless efforts to discover who he was, and those quests almost always come to unfortunate endings.

Just before Christmas some friends and I were joking about the genre of Christian Amish Romance so when I saw a trilogy by Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Long was available on booksneeze I couldn't resist ordering it and making it book number 2 of my goal of 52 books for the year. I'd never actually read anything in the genre so thought this would be a good introduction. I was right. Without giving too much away here's a brief summary of the stories in three novellas: "A Marriage of the Heart" by Kelly Long: Rachel Yoder is looking to escape her father and the Amish way of life. She decides marrying Joseph Lambert might be her ticket out of there. "Healing Hearts" by Beth Wiseman: Levina Lapp and her husband Naaman try to find their way after bringing up 5 children and suddenly finding themselves more alone then they've ever known. "What the Heart Sees" by Kathleen Fuller: A tragic accident rocks a peaceful Amish community, leaving Ellie Chupp blinded and Christopher Bender's future shattered. But they find love and forgiveness in a place they least expect. So did this novella turn me into a fan of amish romance novels? I don't think so but I did throughly enjoy reading each of the three stories. Living in South Africa I'm not paricularly familiar with the Amish way of life so this gave me an interesting insight. I did enjoy the fact that the book deals with relationships at all different stages from just meeting to what marraige is after the children have left the nest. I'd reccommend this book to anyone who just wants to escape the world for an hour or two but if you're looking for some challenging, though-provoking reading (or if you are male) you'd be better off leaving it on the shelf. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the ******* book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commissions 16 CFR, Part 255 : Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."

Quick, entertaining read, but only 3 stars for me because its nothing but a rehash of the tori and dean show. Thats disappointing because as a fan, I've already sean most of the stories in this book on tv.

A lovely Kelly green satin bag featuring a Celtic knot design and border. The bag has a drawstring top. Could be used for carrying a paperback or packing jewelry. Great for the Irish friend that has everything Irish.
