Gathering Shadows, Book 1 Finding Sanctuary by Nancy Mehl Wow Nancy Mehl has written her best book yet. Gathering Shadows is out of this world, I loved it. It is Christian fiction with a little romance and suspense, set in the small Mennonite community. This is a fact paced, keep you at the edge of your seat novel that will keep you reading until the very last page. You are sure to fall a little in love with the characters especially Zac. This is a well thought out book with a realistic storyline. The author Nancy Mehl brings her faith to each story she writes. Having read many of her books I find this to be my all time favorite. If you have not read The Road to Kingdom Series you are missing out. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars. I want to give a high-five to the author Nancy Mehl and publisher Bethany House for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for the authors and publishers generosity.

It's high time there is some truth written about dating.Too bad it puts men in such a shallow light which contains more truth than I would like to admit.

My son played the saxophone in high school ten years ago and has started playing again. I bought him this book so he could "improve" his squeaks and tweeks. Time will tell, but he says it is good. He gave me the ratings.

Seasons of Tomorrow Amish Vines and Orchards, Book 4 by Cindy Woodsmall Seasons of Tomorrow is a great tale of an newly established Amish community . You read about the lives of four couples living at Orchard Bend Farms in Maine. They are working the canning season and harvest while struggling to make a go of the community. Rhonda Byler finds herself part of a new Old Order Amish settlement, where she is a horticulturist. She has recently broken up with her boyfriend Jacob and has started dating his brother Samuel King. Jacob has to return to the Orchard to help out when Phoebe and Steven Bylers lives meet tragic circumstances. In the mean time Leah Byler falls in love with Englischer Landon Olson. This book is action packed, fast paced and full of drama. The couples of this community deal with the challenges of living in a strict Amish community while facing the temptations of the world the live in. The struggles they face are similar to those faced by new Christians wanting to live a life that is pleasing to God. I am a big fan of Amish Fiction but this is the first I have read by author Cindy Woodsmall. I found this book to be well written, with characters that pull you in. Seasons of Tomorrow is book four of a series but it can be read by itself but would be much better read as part of the hold series. The author intertwined the stories of the three other books in this one so it was easy to know what was happening. I have not read the other three but plan on reading them as soon as I can my hands on them. I received a copy of this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest option. I recommend this book to all that love Amish Fiction and Christian Fiction, I give it 4 stars. I want to give a high-five to the author Cindy Woodsmall and publisher for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. Blogging for Books provided me with this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for their, the authors and publishers generosity.

I have tried 12 different recipes from this cookbook and 11 out of 12 recipes the cooking time listed in these recipes is way off. For instance the crockpot stew recipe with kielbasa, potatoes, and cabbage the recipe states 1 1/2 hours on high. When I made it I checked it at 1.5 hours and the veggies were RAW. It took 4 hours on high thus having to add considerably more liquid than recipe calls for to avoid burning. Have these people actually made all the recipes in this book? I am finding it hard to believe especially with having to adjust the cooking/baking time on so many that I have tried. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the book and have only disliked one of the 12 recipes that I have tried to date, I am just totally frustrated with having to recalculate cooking times.

A somewhat irreverent look at Ukraine and Ukrainians by a non-Ukrainian. I have both enjoyed and disapproved of some of the things I have read. As an example, the author talks about the street by St Andrews Church and the somewhat unusual museum. I was there about the same time and wonder why she chose to highlight the museum and ignore the ice cream parlor or the abundance of handcraft boutiques that that are within a few feet of the museum. My recollection of that street is ice cream so rich and delicious your arteries harden just thinking about it. The street is lined with high end cars parked on cobblestone and a constant stream of shoppers, both locals and tourists. It represents the "bohemian" , artsy side of Kyiv and I was surprised that such a street even existed in this city based on preconceived notions. I am still working my way through the book, I am glad I bought it and I am actually enjoying it because it gives a Ukrainian descendant the opportunity to laugh at the serious way we take ourselves. I am coming to a new appreciation of who I really am and how I came to be that way based on the slightly narrow angled vision of a non-Ukrainian journalist. As they say in Hollywood, all that matters is that they spell your name right. At least that part is true, Perhaps a bit more accuracy would have been appreciated but it wouldn't have been so entertaining, I will certainly add more when I finish the book.
