Pre-Publication copy reviewed Sandra Bricker kicks off a new romantic comedy contemporary series based on classic fairy tales. If the Show Fits, based on Cinderella, tells the humorous story of a modern-day Cinderella waiting for her prince. In If the Show Fits, on the very day Julianne opens a law firm with her childhood friend, Will, she sees a handsome stranger rescue a dog from the middle of a busy intersection. As he carries the dog off, with his long coat flowing out behind him, she is captivated by his physical beauty and love for animals. When she looks again, he is gone. Then she notices that his tool box and his work boot fall out of his truck. Julianne takes it as a sign that she has seen her Prince Charming. She tracks him down to return the items, but is he as charming as she dreams? She thinks she has found her prince, but more she gets to know him, the less charming he seems to be. Julianne wants Gods plan for her life but will she recognize it before it is too late? For this Cinderella, the shoe (boot) is on the other foot she is looking for her prince, not the other way around. How hard should she work to make things fit? Cinderella (Julianne) has her ball and eventually her prince, but not before facing challenges in finding her happy ending. Bricker writes her trademark humor in this laugh-out loud story where Cinderella doesnt recognize Gods plan for her. With witty narrative and likeable primary and secondary characters, Bricker strikes just the right balance to bring a twist to this contemporary fairy tale. The Christian elements are light, not preachy. Its humor and romance are clean, not unlike the old black-and-white romantic comedies featuring ones favorite actors.

The Reason by William Sirls How can one family face adversity, tragedy, miracles, and heartbreak. And yet still have faith. They can because they .. only believe. Pastor James Lindy and wife Shirley have taken in Brooke and her young son Alex. They complete their small family along with their special needs son Charlie. A storm destroys and takes out the churchs cross but brings so much more to the community. As repairs are made they see miracles. Kenneth an ordinary carpenter is new to town but where he goes strange and wondrous things happen. Quote: He knew without a doubt that miracles took place all the time, and that everyone - without exception - was from the hand of God. There were big ones. There were small ones. There were those everyone noticed, like surviving life-threatening illness and accidents. Then there were many more that went unnoticed, like healthy children, something to eat, a roof , someone to love, birth and sometimes, even death. He wondered what the world would be like if people would just stop and take the time to look at everything they were given everyday of their lives and be thankful --to offer thanks and try to realize their personal miracles were coming from, and give credit where it was rightfully due. The author William Sirls is new to me. In fact this is his first book. I found his work to be a breath of fresh air, well written with compelling stories of faith. The authors strong faith shines in this great book. I am so looking forward to his next book The Sinners Garden. Author Carrie Daws once said, You know it's a good book when you are emotionally invested in it, and I promise you will be invested in this wonderful story. I give this book 5 stars and highly recommend it. High-five to the author William Sirls and publisher for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. The Book Club Network Inc. provided me with this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for their, the authors and publishers generosity.

The second book in the series and all I have to say is wow! Jeyn Roberts has kept the same thriller descriptions to bring chaos and death to a world gone wrong. Throughout the book I just kept thinking how disturbing the whole story is so I would say Roberts has been successful in portraying what she wanted! In this book it is clear how much rage the Baggers have within them as the violence is as gruesome as ever. I admire how Roberts has written these scenes because she has portrayed them in detail to create a vivid image in the readers mind to bring it to life, again disturbing, but clearly done. We carry on following the lives of Michael, Aries, Mason and Clementine and the adventures they have to face along the way. Working together they have to become tougher and less humane to survive in a world without water, heat, food and essentials. And what is the mysterious Nothing chapter title that keeps coming up? Prepare to become engaged into a world of violence, secrecy, death and lies. A book not for the faint hearted or late night readers!

I have to say I have never read a Christian fiction like this and I loved it!!! There was humor, romance, drama and surprisingly some real rompn stompn action! I read it in 2 days and most of that time was when I was supposed to be sleeping! I couldnt put it down! When Meredith was ten years old it was a known fact you never step foot on Archer land or you would be shot on sight. On a school yard dare she stepped on the land and found herself caught in an animal trap. Young Travis Archer found her, rescued her and carried her home. That one meeting and act of kindness spurned a school girl crush that lasted into her young adulthood. The Archer brothers werent bad, just fearful. Having lost both of their parents when they were very young, Travis, the oldest, took on the role of protector and father to his brothers. He had taken that role very seriously. The four brothers had been living as bachelor/hermits their whole lives. Their childhood terror of having someone take their land from them had grown into an all-out war toward those on the outside. The last thing on their minds was a woman. The Archer land was prime land for the railroad and Meredith over hears a plot to attack them and take their land. With her love for Travis and wanting to repay his good deed 12 years ago, she risks all and goes onto their land at night. As you can imagine they arent overly happy to see her, even with the important news she brings, but most of all the very presence of a woman sends their lives into a tail spin! Through some ill-fated incidents, Meredith ends up staying on the ranch for several days. Being noble men, the brothers are determined to save her reputation. The only plan they can come up with to see who the groom will be is to draw straws. Travis draws the short straw and becomes her husband. Both have a strong relationship with God and desire to please Him in all they do. Will this be the common bond in a relationship that has nothing in common? This book with all its humor and fun has some very strong lessons in turning our preconceived plans and ideas over to God. Travis and Meredith show how we can be too focused what we think we should be doing, and listening to God and letting Him guide. I would absolutely love to see future books on the lives of each of the brothers. This book is a must read! I received this book free from Bethany House Publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commissions 16 CFR, Part 255

What has God not done for me? What has He not been to me? I recommend Him to the world. Commissioner Samuel Logan Brengle received his final promotion in 1936 but his ministry continues today through his writings. Award-winning writer Bob Hostetler has grasped the editorial pen to bring together selections from Brengles work into a new daily devotional entitled Take Time to Be Holy: 365 Daily Inspirations to Bring You Closer to God. Born amid the first rumblings of the American Civil War, Commissioner Brengle is regarded one of the foremost holiness teachers of the early 20th Century. As an officer in The Salvation Army, he travelled the globe carrying a burden for Gods people to be fully sanctified. At the forefront of his message is the plea for holiness of heart and dependence on the Holy Spirit. In Take Time to Be Holy, this message is clear. As you read each devotional entry, you will be challenged to live a sanctified life, empowered and enlivened by the Holy Spirit. Many will know of editor Bob Hostetlers long connection to The Salvation Army and so it should come as no surprise that Commissioner Brengles writing played an important role in his spiritual formation. In bringing together excerpts from each of Brengles books, he maintains the sense of urgency and challenge that marked Brengles life and ministry. For those who have previously read Brengles work (or any religious writing from his time), you will be relieved to know that Hostetler has cleaned it up a little. In the forward, he explains that he has edited length, updated language, simplified sentence structure and provided appropriate references for quotations. Youll be glad to know that scripture references have also been updated for the sake of clarity and enjoyment. The overall effect of this is to make Brengle more accessible for devotional reading. The modern reader will find that the language is clear and compelling, still speaking with the authority of that great teacher. Heres an example of the kind of work that has been done on the text (original followed by devotional version): "If you, my brother, my sister, will look unto Jesus just now, trusting the merits of His blood, and receive the Holy Spirit into your heart, you shall be made free from sin; it shall not have dominion over you. Hallelujah! Under the fiery touch of His holy presence, your iniquity shall be taken away, and your sin shall be purged. And you yourself shall burn as did the bush on the mount of God which Moses saw; yet you, like the bush, shall not be consumed; and by this holy fire, this flame of love, that consumes sin, you shall be made proof against that unquenchable fire that consumes sinners." (When the Holy Ghost is Come) "If you will look unto Jesus just now and receive the Holy Spirit, you shall be made free from sin. It will have no dominion over you (Romans 6:14). And you will burn like the bush Moses saw, with holy fire." (Take Time to Be Holy) As a devotional, this book will challenge you daily. With themes such as secret prayer, consecration, public witnessing and rational faith, I found myself frequently putting down the book to get on my knees. Having studied and taught Brengles writing in my ministry as a Salvation Army officer, I will comfortably recommend this devotional to my friends and congregation. In fact, Ill be using it with my family in 2014. Take Time to Be Holy delivers excellent devotional writing with spiritual power and authority. Take time each day to discover how personal holiness will change your life and change the world.

This book was tremendous! It gave a clear view what it was like in the early 70's...a time of indecisiveness and self discovery. I know! (The author and I 'grew' up in the same time frame! ;-) ) The most important thing the reader will carry away is that Jenkins dissolved stereotypes. Such lessons abound! He also followed his 'dream' of exploration, ignoring establishment mandates to live a regimented life. How many people do you know do that? What one stands to gain in opening your heart...not to be afraid to stand up for what you believe is right...and a wealth that cannot be bought anywhere of forging relationships and friendships that otherwise would have passed him by in this lifetime. I cannot wait to read yet another one of his publications!

Broken Kind of Beautiful by Katie Ganshert Ivy Clark has been a model from the young age of fourteen. She was raised to believe her looks are everything because that is how she has found her value. Her hurts run deep, from abandonment, to being used, and feelings of unworthiness. She was beautiful but empty. The closer Ivy got to being twenty five the less jobs she received. Having no where else to turn she takes a modeling job in Greenbrier, South Carolina, for her stepmothers bridal shop Something New. Ivy does not believe she could ever be worthy of the white bridal gown, picket fence, happy ever after. She thinks she is to damaged. Davis Knight is now the church handyman and a photographer at heart. He stopped snapping pictures because he felt extreme guilt for his sisters injury. He feels he does not deserve better because of the hurt and pain he has caused. As Davis and Ivy work together to help his Aunt Marilyn with a fashion show they grow closer. Because of the way Ivy is treated in this small town, she questions her beliefs. Is it possible God could want her, is she really worthy? She has watched her step mother carry deep hurts and still trust in God. Can Ivy be forgiven, redeemed and found worthy in Gods sight? The author Katie Ganshert did an outstanding job of brining these characters to life. They experienced some of the same feeling me and you experience in our lifetime. I found Broken Kind of Beautiful to be thought provoking and pulled at the heartstrings. I highly recommend this 5 star book and any other by this author. A big thank you goes out to author Katie Ganshert and publisher for bringing thought provoking and compelling Christian books to readers like me. Books that are full of faith, clean and inspire me with hope. Blogging for Books provided me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for their, the authors and publishers generosity.

My first "dragon" was The White Dragon by Anne McCaffrey in the early 1980's, picked up while I was searching for an English-language book in a trainstation bookstore in Germany. I fell in love. Today, more than twenty years later, I'm loving the work carried on by her son Todd. This book, Dragonheart, tells me that there will be more dragon fun in the future and the premise of "timing it" renews an aspect which adds excitement and anticipation to the mix. One hopes that these characters appear in a future book, one which will continue their story. Thank you to both mother and son for providing such wonderful stories to enjoy!

German Emma Giesy was independent and strong, determined, married to Christian five short years with a love that both thought would last forever, with two small children Andy and Kate. The struggle of everyday life consisted of always doing what the will of the community leader Herr Kiel dictated, but independent Emma was always trying to get Christian to leave the community but Christian felt they needed the community but did agree to stay in Willapa instead of going on to Aurora Mills as Herr Kiel wanted. Than one day Christian doing what he did best helping others, drowned helping an old man save his belongings as he tried desperately to cross a river during a raging storm. Forced to carry on alone, not wanting the help of Christian¿s family or the community Emma sets out to raise her family on her own and run the homestead. A few days after Christian¿s death Emma finds herself pregnant with their third child and names him Christian, giving birth to him alone at the homestead. Emma is still determined to take care of her own children but Christian¿s family will not let her be. The worst telling her what she should and should not do in raising her sons but ignoring her daughter as though she is not important Because of Christian¿s death Emma has even turned her back on God determined she doesn¿t need Him either. The final straw seemed to be while Emma was ill and Andy was staying with her in-laws they took him to Aurora Mills without even asking or telling her. She felt she had to do something for fear her in-laws would take her sons from her. During her grieving time only one man proposed marriage to pick up where Christian left off and that was the strange Jack Giesy. She avoided his advances for a time than felt she had no choice thinking Herr Kiel and her in-laws were her enemies. Finally determined to protect her children she proposes a business proposition of marriage to Jack. Jack would have none of that wanting her as a wife in every sense. Fearing she had no choice agreed. From that point on her life turns from struggle to nightmare dealing with Jack¿s moods and outbursts of violence until she fears Andy will kill Jack. Emma knows she has to take the children and leave but where will she go? Based on a true story this awesome story shows the ups and downs of the German community way of life during the mid to late 1800¿s under the rule of Herr Kiel and the life of Emma Giesy. You may find yourself just as I did routing for Emma in this page turner but humbled as she was to learn life¿s hard lessons and to depend upon the kindness of the very ones she considered her enemies. Multiple lessons for us all are woven within the pages of this novel, the biggest being the lesson of giving and receiving which we all must learn. The second book in the series author Jane Kirkpatrick has done an awesome job of bringing history alive. I truly like the extras included especially the interview with the author that explains so much more of the background. I highly recommend placing this one on your must read list for the summer!

Annie Yoder did something different during her rumspringa, she went into the English world and became a nurse. Upon her return she married herbalist, Samuel Yoder, who took care of the local Amishs basic medical needs. As the story opens they are expecting their first child and her brother, Adam and his wife Leah are expecting for the first time too. Leah is carrying twins. The two women are very close. Annie wants to make Leah a special quilt for the babies. Thinking she has time to spare, (Leah isnt due for two months), Annie gets a late start. Leah unexpectedly goes into early labor, endangering her life and the babies. She is must be taken to a hospital in Philadelphia where she and the babies can be cared for. Annie agrees to stay with her until the babies are born. Adam and Leah have been having struggles in their marriage since Leah became pregnant. Neither knows what the problem is and the distance grows between them. The sudden separation they experience while Leah is in the hospital causes both of them to view their marriage through different eyes. Annie and Leah work on the quilt together and to pass the time share stories that illustrate the nine fruits of the spirit from Galatians chapter 5, one for each quilt square. The community pulls together to have an auction to help pay for Leah and the babies hospital stay. Adam is overwhelmed by their love and generosity. While this book would be a great read anytime, it is especially so for the Christmas season. Not because the story takes place around the holiday, but because of the many lessons associated with Christmas that can be learned from it. Adam and Leahs marital problems stemmed from losing focus on what was important. Adam was worried about finances and being a new father. Leah focused on her pregnancy discomfort and began to be selfish and ill tempered. When faced with the possibility of losing one another their priorities became very clear. I was reminded of how we lose focus of Christ, during the Christmas season. He is the true reason to celebrate, yet people caught up in buying gifts, decorating, preparing special food; everything except the Child that was the greatest gift of all. He should always be our priority and focus. Annie made a great sacrifice to stay with her sister in law. She spent many days away from her husband whom she missed and loved. She sat long hours caring for Leah and keeping her company. The Amish community made sacrifices of time and possessions to help earn money for the young couples medical bills. This time of year the greatest sacrifice ever made began with the birth of Jesus. God sent His only Son to begin life on earth only to give it up for us. I enjoyed the examples the women shared to illustrate Galatians 22 -23. It gave me the idea to do the same thing. I plan to find nine examples of each fruit from people and situations from my own life. This would be a great thing to do in a group as a Bible study too! There are more examples I found, those were just a few. How many can you find? A wonderful heartwarming book! This is the first of Ms. Chapmans I have read and I look forward to reading more! I received this book free from Abingdon Press. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

This is a very well constructed, attractive, combination calendar, planner, organizer, address book, to-do list maker in one volume. Initially I ordered 3 because I thought they were lined blank journals which I intended to use myself , and I subsequently ordered more, but on arrival I saw their true purpose. and have been giving them to mothers of school age kids. I handed out the first 6 at the medical clinic where I go monthly for treatments and they were an instant hit. As soon as I receive the remaining ones, the rest of the Mom's will have those. On a whim I checked eBay for the books and 2 different sellers have theirs priced at more than 6 times that of Overstock.com price. So, as you see, the value is .beyond anything I could ever have expected. As an added bonus, the kitschy 1950's theme is carried throughout the 192 pages with beautiful pictures similar to the one on the cover.

Grab an iced latte and get comfortable! Once you open LEARNING, you will not want to move until you have finished reading every word. I caught myself not moving even after the last page, reminiscing about the journey I had been on. I had sat still, yet travelled, huddled with a team and danced on Broadway. I was silent as I rehearsed a song, participated in Biblical discussions and video chatted on Skype. I listened only to my own heart beat in my quiet place and heard hundreds of people applaud and cheer. But in the most unlikely of situations, I found myself alone in a room and completely surrounded by friends! Prepare to be a part of a family you love (but can never meet), because Karen Kingsbury has allowed God to use her again to teach us how to love him more! Like watching the opening scenes of my favorite movie or taking the first bite of my chocolate dessert, I got all giddy holding LEARNING in my hands. I knew the story it carried on its pages would make me smile, need a tissue and cause me to think. My smiles show up at the dinner table with the Baxter family and amongst significantly placed wisdom from women who have been through it before. Honestly, my eyes can fill up from those conversations too. But the moments when my tears fall most is when my heart doesnt understand why something has happened, even when its a huge blessing. Wiping the tears makes me pause and reflect on the infinite wisdom of God all things work best when they go His way. The lessons of LEARNING continued after I set it down. The overall way Bailey lives her life challenges me to make more of an impact on those God has placed in my path. Am I listening and obeying His still small voice and am I aware of the results when I dont? The earnest desire for Cody to help others inspires me to get out of my own way and let God lead. Do I show concern for others and take action or do I pray and move on? Jenny Flanigan can easily be counted as an example of a Proverbs 31 woman in how she takes care of her family and home which makes me adopt that Godly woman attitude. Have I made it evident that our home is a safe harbor to be used for Gods purposes? Through answering these questions and many more, I have become a better person. I am confident that reading this book has improved my relationships with my friends, my family and my Savior Jesus Christ. I know you will enjoy all that God has to show you through this chapter in Baileys life story. As you start to read, I hope you experience this journey as a member of the family and not just from the outside looking in. However, most importantly, I pray you open your heart as you open your book and prepare for new life lessons in LEARNING.
